Pop Warner Super Bowl
The nation's top youth football teams and players will converge on Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex for the 57th Pop Warner Super Bowl this December. The event will mark the 17th year held at Walt Disney World Resort, involving more than 60 teams. To reach the Pop Warner Super Bowl, teams nationwide battle local and regional tournaments throughout the year. Teams compete at Disney,s Wide World of Sports Complex in five divisions based on size and age: Mitey-Mite (ages 7-9 yrs.), Jr. Pee Wee (ages 8-10 yrs.), Pee Wee (9-11 yrs.), Jr. Midget (10-12 yrs.) and Midget (11-14 yrs.). The 2013 Pop Warner Super Bowl concluded with the Sweetwater Eagles (FL) defeating the Northwest Raiders (PA) by the final score of 30-0 to claim the Division I Midget National Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Pop Warner Cheer and Dance Championships
The 26th National Cheer & Dance Championships will feature over 300 cheer/dance squads who will compete at the five-day long event. Competitions take place at the HP Field House at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Cheer and dance squads compete in four different age ranges (Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Jr. Midget, and Midget), as well as three squad sizes (Small, Medium and Large) and four competition categories.
Activities Off the Field and Floor
In addition to the competition on the field and on the floor in 2013, more than 8,700 athletes and 2,000 coaches enjoyed the Pop Warner Celebration Party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a Disney character breakfast, the opportunity to keep up with their studies at the OfficeMax Study Hall, and Disney sports recognized team moms at a Team Parent Information Session.
Some public exhibitions may be scheduled during the Football and Cheer and Dance tournaments. Guests can expect heavy bookings at some resorts, especially All-Stars, by youth groups, as well as possible crowds in parks during evening hours.
Live Television Coverage
Youth athletes competing in the Pop Warner Super Bowl will gain additional national exposure as part of a 10-year contract renewal with ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort. Under the contract extension, which runs through 2019, more than 40 hours of live game coverage and game action cut-ins will be shown on ESPN3.com. In addition, the Division I Midget national championship game will be aired on ESPN2 and other networks.
