It is a weekend of galactic fun and fantastic runs during the runDisney Star Wars Rival Run Weekend at the Walt Disney World Resort. Choose your side for the Star Wars Rival Run Weekend. It’s an epic race event featuring some of your favorite Star Wars rivalries from across the saga, with distances geared for all skill levels. You won’t want to miss your chance to be a part of this unique Star Wars adventure where you’ll encounter characters from a galaxy far, far away along the course as you journey to the finish line to earn one-of-a-kind medals! Which side of the Force will you run for?
Guests will be able to feel the power of the force with races for Star Wars fans of every age including the Star Wars Half Marathon, Star Wars 10K, Star Wars 5K, and the runDisney Kids Races. Guests looking for a bigger challenge can participate in the Star Wars Dark Side Challenge combining the Star Wars 10K and Half Marathon. May the Force be with you!
The 2021 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend will take place virtually. More details can be found here. In addition, it appears that this weekend will be re-imagined. No word on if its replacement will be announced for 2022. More details on updates coming soon.

Children 13 and under are invited to participate in the runDisney Kids Races taking place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Track & Field Complex. Each runner who participates will go home with their very own Finisher Medallion! The Dashes will take place at 11:00 a.m. and the 1-Mile Run will occur at 12:30 p.m.

If you think that a half marathon is just a walk in the park, put your endurance to the test and compete in the Star Wars Rival Run Challenge. A 19.3-mile adventure held over two days, participants will run the Star Wars 10K on Saturday, followed by the Star Wars Half Marathon on Sunday. If you finish both races within the pacing requirements, you will Star Wars Rival Run Challenge Finisher Medal in addition to your Half Marathon and 10K finisher medals.
You must register for the Star Wars Rival Run Challenge to receive the Star Wars Rival Run Challenge medal upon completion of both races within the pacing requirements.
runDisney Kessel Run Challenge
Take your Star Wars race journey to the next level and accept the Kessel Run Challenge. Run the Star Wars Virtual Half Marathon at home, plus run the Star Wars Rival Run Half Marathon or Challenge at Walt Disney World Resort. Runners who have completed the Star Wars Rival Run Half Marathon will receive the Kessel Run Challenge medal in addition to Star Wars Rival Run Half Marathon medal.
You must register for the Kessel Run Challenge and choose to participate in either the Star Wars Rival Run Half Marathon or Star Wars Rival Run Challenge.
Awards
Overall Half Marathon male (top 3), female (top 3), wheelchair (top male and female – push rim only), and female and male Masters Champion winners will receive their awards at the Awards Ceremony.

Select early registration opportunities are available one week prior to official registration opening date for each race weekend. These are for Walt Disney World Annual Passholders, Disneyland Annual Passholders, and Disney Vacation Club Members.

Entry fees for the 2019 Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend events are non-refundable.
Eligibility
Star Wars Half Marathon
To compete, you must be 14 years of age or older.
Star Wars 10K
To compete, you must be 10 years of age or older.
Star Wars 5K
To compete, you must be 5 years of age or older. Each participant must be able to complete the 5K on their own.
Star Wars Rival Run Challenge/runDisney Kessel Run Challenge
To compete, you must be 14 years of age or older.
runDisney Kids Races
Children 13 and under can participate in the 1-Mile Run. Distances for the dashes are determined by age group for kids 8 and under.
Pacing Requirements
All athletes entering the Star Wars Half Marathon, Star Wars 10K, or the Star Wars 5K, must maintain a 16-minute per mile pace throughout the race. Anyone not able to maintain the respective paces may be picked up and transported to the finish. You may be picked up at any point along the course and transported for not maintaining pace. It is suggested that you train at a 15-minute per mile pace.
Proof of Time
Proof of time must be provided from a certified race reflecting results after April 1, 2017 and must be one of the below listed distances. Runners will be placed in the last corral if the appropriate race distance is not submitted for Proof of Time.

Keep in mind that If proof of time is not provided by January 8, 2019, or information is is incomplete or cannot be verified, you will be placed in the last start corral. Also keep in mind that no corral changes will be made after January 8, 2019.
Waivers
Waivers for the race will be provided online approximately two weeks before the race. You must have your signed waiver and a Photo ID with you to pick up your race packet. A parent or legal guardian must complete and sign the waiver for any participant under 18 years old. No exceptions will be made.
Packet Pick-Up
Star Wars Rival Run Runners can pick up their packet at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. You must pick up your own participant packet (which includes an event-issued bib number and timing device) during regularly scheduled hours. Individuals will no longer be able to pick up participant packets on behalf of others. Download and complete your personalized race waiver on-line (available approximately two weeks prior to event). Parents or legal guardians must download and complete the personalized race waiver for minors and pick up their packet. You must have a valid ID in order to pick up your packet (driver’s license, passport, Military ID, Government issued ID.) If you do not have a valid photo ID we cannot issue you your race bib. No exceptions will be made
Costumes
Guests may dress as their favorite character during the races, but must follow these guidelines:
- Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable or violent.
- Guests who dress like characters may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests.
- Costumes may not contain any weapons that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.
- For runDisney participants ages 13 and under:
- Costumes and some masks may be worn, as long the mask does not cover the entire face and eyes are visible.
- For runDisney participants ages 14 and older:
- Layered costumes, that could conceal prohibited items, are not permitted (e.g. Jedi robes).
- Costume props, including those that surround the entire body (e.g. Death Star, UP House) are not permitted.
- Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground. (e.g. full-length Princess dresses)
- Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.
- Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts, and hats are acceptable.
- Acceptable accessories include: transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords, and tutus. Headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face.
- Guests may not wear masks of any kind.
Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused entry into, and/or removed from, a race or any race related event/activity unless his or her costume can be modified to meet the above standards.
Please note that while costumed attire may be worn during runDisney events, Guests 14 and older are not permitted to wear costumed attire in the theme parks. As a result, Guests may need to change their attire prior to visiting the parks after participating in a runDisney race.
Safety
- The race will be held rain or shine. If there is lightning in the area, the race will either have a delayed start or, depending on the intensity of the weather, be canceled.
- For everyone’s safety, baby joggers, strollers, baby carriers, baby backpacks, inline skates, motorized scooters, bicycles, skateboards, canes, crutches, walkers, walking sticks and animals of any kind are prohibited from the course. Violators will be removed from the course and transported to the finish line area.
- Headphones are discouraged due to audio messages that are placed throughout the course to ensure runners safety.
Race Photos
Disney PhotoPass Photographers will be on the course and at the finish line taking your photos during the race. To make sure that your photos show up, make sure your bib is in view on the front of your shirt! Race photos will be available to view at MyDisneyPhotoPass.com (select Walt Disney World). If you are on the My Disney Experience app, the photos should appear within 24 hours of the event. To link your photos, you will need to enter the 11-digit RaceID followed by your 5-digit bib number. If your bib number is less than 5 digits, you will need to add zeros at the beginning of your bib number to complete the 16-digit code. See below for RaceIDs; you will need to replace the x’s with your bib number to complete the code:

Spectator Information
Spectators help runners by motivating them during their training and cheering them on during their runs. As a spectator, you play a huge part in the success of your runner.
Viewing Your Runner
You can always view your runner in a number of different areas along the Half Marathon course.
Finish Line Viewing
Spectators can see their runners again at the Finish Line. There will be a limited number of complimentary seats along the Finish Line available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reserved seating is available for purchase through Disney’s ChEAR Squad.
With the ChEAR Squad, you get:
- runDisney ChEAR Squad bag, stadium blanket and cowbell
- Reserved Finish Line ChEAR Zone seating, which includes:
- Reserved grandstand seating (first come, first served)
- Hot and cold beverages
- Private restrooms
Runner Tracking
Family and friends will be able to track participants with live online runner tracking for the Half Marathon and 10K. Participants will have the opportunity to send split times via email and text messaging by registering for this service on the event website approximately one week before the event. You can also sign up for runner tracking at the Expo.
Star Wars Rival Run 10K and Half Marathon Parking
Parking at Epcot is free before 7:00 a.m. If you arrive afterward, you will be charged the daily parking fee. Athletes and spectators should plan on arriving at Epcot by 4:00 a.m. on the half marathon race morning. Road closures will occur due to the race. Please note there will be no parking at the Magic Kingdom for these events.
Star Wars Rival Run 5K Parking
Parking at Epcot is free before 7:00 a.m. If you arrive afterward, you will be charged the daily parking fee. Traffic will not be affected for the Star Wars 5K.
Keep in mind that transportation is only provided to and from the host resorts. and that parking is limited at all venues. We strongly encourage the use of event transportation whenever possible.
