World Showcase for Adults

The World Showcase in Epcot is one of my favorite places in Walt Disney World to explore; no matter how many times I’ve been to Walt Disney World, a trip through the countries in Epcot never seems to get old. Each visit, I manage to stumble upon a new and exciting shop, musical performance, or snack. The World Showcase boasts a wealth of leisure activities to entertain guests without requiring lots of time spent in lines waiting for attractions. A favorite spot to bring close friends, significant others, and extended family, the World Showcase offers many fun things to do for adult WDW guests! Check out some of my favorite activities for adults here!

My favorite part about visiting the World Showcase is the emphasis on immersion and atmosphere, rather than attractions. Instead of running from attraction to attraction worrying about catching a FastPass+ or squeezing in an extra ride on Peter Pan’s Flight, an afternoon spent in the World Showcase is more focused on exploring highly themed spaces at a leisurely pace.

One of the best ways to fully immerse yourself in the culture of each country is to enjoy the many performances and musical acts around the countries. Listen to the British Revolution perform some classic British rock in the United Kingdom pavilion, or head to Mexico to enjoy a real mariachi band performance. Each pavilion offers a special performance specific to their country, so you’ll be sure to find something for everybody as you take a trip around the world! Pick up a times guide to find out the daily schedule of each performer or group.

My best souvenirs and gifts for friends always seem to come from the World Showcase. Each pavilion boasts shops full of country-specific goods and souvenirs; it’s hard to walk away without bringing a little something home! If you’re on an adults only trip, browsing the shops with a drink in hand is a blast! Prices vary from quite affordable (pick up some traditional British candy in the United Kingdom or some tequila-infused chocolate in Mexico) to splurge worthy (pearls and kimonos are for sale in Japan!). I love browsing the shops for unique items that I may not find back home. If you want something Disney specific, don’t worry, the World Showcase has many Disney products available for purchase, too!

Probably my favorite thing to do in World Showcase is eat! For daring diners and picky eaters, alike, you’ll be sure to find plenty of delicious options to keep you snacking. The World Showcase offers many counter service and table service options, and many pavilions offer more than one dining location! As far as table service goes, I’m a big fan of Le Cellier Steakhouse in Canada, Monsieur Paul in France, and Teppan Edo in Japan. Counter service is my real favorite, though! If you enjoy Moroccan foods, don’t miss Tangierine Café! The Yorkshire County Fish Shop in the United Kingdom boasts some outrageously good fish and chips, and Sommerfest in Germany serves up a delicious bratwurst!

If these options weren’t enough, pop-up dining kiosks are available throughout the year during the International Food and Wine Festival, Festival of the Arts, Flower and Garden Festival, and even the holiday season! If you’re a real food fanatic, you’ll go crazy for these limited time small plates and larger portions.

In addition to eating your way around the World Showcase, you can also drink your way around. A favorite activity for many, make your way around Epcot, trying an impressive selection of regional wines, beers, and mixed drinks. Each World Showcase pavilion offers local beers, wines, or liquors available for purchase, allowing you to discover new favorites! If you’re a tequila lover, head straight to Mexico and grab a shot or a special margarita at La Cava de Tequila. If beer is more your thing, check out the ever popular grapefruit beer in Germany! A favorite frozen drink can be found in France; try the orange slush, a blend of Gran Marnier, Grey Goose Orange, and orange juice!

A trip to the World Showcase wouldn’t be complete without fireworks! A fantastic activity for adults and children, alike, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth lights up the sky above the World Showcase Lagoon each night, telling a story of planet Earth, humanity, and the future of our planet, that will be sure to give you goosebumps! Visible from each pavilion around the World Showcase, this fireworks show is a favorite of many Disney guests! If you’re looking to make the night even more memorable, purchase a ticket to the IllumiNations Sparkling Dessert Party, where you’ll find an assortment of delicious treats and sparkling wines!
