Tiffins, located in Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Park, provides a relaxing place to appreciate fine dining while basking in the ambiance of the restaurant. The name Tiffins refers to an Indian word meaning a small portable lunch box as displayed on the restaurant sign.
The check in area for Tiffins is to the right of Nomad Lounge. A large world map and welcome sign greet guests.
Tiffins showcases the places where Imagineers traveled to design Animal Kingdom Park. The Grand Gallery, Safari Gallery, and Trek Gallery all have artwork that tie into the theme of the park.
The pillars in the Grand Gallery are the carvings that were originally in Camp Minnie-Mickey. They served as an inspiration for the Tree of Life.
Likewise, the butterflies were recycled from a former decoration in Pizzafari.
Lighting fixtures are a nod to the new Rivers of Light show.
This “Electrified” artwork represents the electrical wiring found in Swahili towns. Similar loose wiring can be found in the Africa area of the park.
The Boabob Tree is landmark on the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction.
There are photos documenting travel, and evidence of how discoveries made during that travel became the artwork that led to atmosphere we enjoy in the parks.
Tiffins Dining Experience and Food
Reservations are recommended, but I decided to risk asking for a last minute table because I ate here on my arrival day and was not certain if I would have travel delays. I was seated immediately at their opening time for lunch.
The menu is in a leather bound case, similar to a sketchbook that may be used to create the artwork found in the restaurant.
Pomegranate Foccacia bread with a 10 spice olive oil dip was swiftly brought to my table.
The Kungaloosh Spiced Excursion Ale was the perfect way to celebrate my first day of vacation! It is an amber ale brewed exclusively for Walt Disney World and has a hint of cinnamon and cardamom.
I opted for a “pick two” lunch option, providing small plates of two entrees and a side of multigrain rice. The one entrée I selected was the 72 Hour Beef Short Rib with carrots and chimichurri. Perfection! The flavors blended well and the beef was melt in my mouth tender.
The other entrée was Chermoula-Rubbed Chicken with dried fruits, olives, and couscous. The beef was my favorite, but this was flavorful and I enjoyed it. The rice was a good accompaniment for both dishes.
I skipped dessert, though my meal did have an unexpected sweet ending. Upon leaving, I was given a Joe Rhode print as a keepsake. It reminds me of the fantastic food and great atmosphere of Tiffins.
