I am a lifelong resident of Los Angeles. My earliest memories of visiting Disneyland Park date back to 1972, when I met Mickey Mouse and proudly showed him the ears I wore on my head. My first trip was inspired by the late Disney voice legend Thurl Ravenscroft, a member of the congregation and choir at the church I attended, as he regaled everyone with tales of working for Disney. Thurl seemed especially proud of his contributions to the Haunted Mansion and America Sings, so some of my family and I eventually headed to Disneyland to ride Haunted Mansion in search of Thurl's singing bust. Unfortunately, as I approached the queue for the Haunted Mansion, I froze in terror and then ran off, screaming into the night. I don't think I finally decided to brave the ride for another few years. (It took me even longer to overcome my fear of Pirates of the Caribbean!) I enjoy solo trips to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, as well as fun-filled trips with good friends. An unabashed Christmas fanatic, I am a sucker for the Holidays at Disneyland Resort, as well as the Halloween Time season and the more recent introduction of the springtime Egg-stravaganza event. I love to take photos, mainly for my own amusement, and can find beauty in even the simplest things in life. I am a firm believer in the philosophy that you don't have to journey to the highest peak, or to the deepest valley, to find beauty. You can find it around every corner, and in your own backyard.

Fall Fever, Haul-O-Ween Hijinks and Pumpkin Pandemonium Sweep Disneyland Resort During Halloween Time

Posted on October 18, 2017April 9, 2022

Fall Fever has swept the nation… or at least the Internet.   On September 22nd, as summer moseyed off into the mist and autumn greeted us with promises of cozy comforts and caramel apple treats, social media feeds across America and beyond were filled with cheerful messages of “Happy Fall, Y’all!”   Tranquil images of magnificent-golden…

Halloween Time Creeps Back to Disneyland Resort with Eerie New Enhancements in 2017

Posted on August 10, 2017April 9, 2022

Can you feel it in the air?   Autumn is right around the corner.   At night, there is an ever-so-slight, gradual cool down.  It seems to last for only a fleeting moment, but it is a glimpse of what lies ahead.   With each passing week, the phenomenon that I call “Pumpkin Pandemonium” picks up steam, as omnipresent pumpkin…

Today’s article about the opening of Cars Land in 2012 is the second installment in the “Mouse Memories” series, in which I will periodically cover some of the momentous occasions and my favorite gone-but-not-forgotten highlights of Disneyland Resort’s days gone by.  The inaugural Mouse Memories contribution, about the former Springtime Roundup, can…

Christmas in July — These Are a Few of My Favorite Things (Disneyland Resort)

Posted on July 28, 2017April 9, 2022

Summer is in full swing, and, for many people, it is a time for pool parties, road trips and carefree sunset strolls on the beach.  It is a time to sing and tell ghost stories around a campfire, and to enjoy picnics in the park.  It is time to grab a boat and explore…

Mickey Pancakes for the Soul: 5 Unexpected Benefits of a Disneyland Trip

Posted on June 7, 2017April 9, 2022

Before I begin, I should clarify one important detail. Despite the curious title, this blog will not be a review of the Mickey Mouse pancake. This is also not a tribute to the wonders of the iconic breakfast treat at Disneyland Resort’s Rancho del Zocalo restaurant, nor is this a step-by-step tutorial on how…

Mouse Memories: Remembering Disneyland’s Springtime Roundup

Posted on May 23, 2017April 9, 2022

This is the first entry in an ongoing series I am calling “Mouse Memories,” in which I will look back at specific momentous occasions that took place at Disneyland Resort in years past, as well as extinct events, decorations, attractions, merchandise and beyond.  I will also share personal stories, recollections and photos from some…

Disneyland Resort’s Egg-stravaganza 2017 – 10 Tips to Enjoy This Eggs-traordinary Event!

Posted on April 7, 2017April 9, 2022

At Disneyland Resort, the last few months of each year are dedicated to celebrating the one-two punch of Halloween Time and the Holidays, with only a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it pause between the two seasons. However, after the rapid-fire succession of pumpkins, candy canes and winter sweater-clad characters have faded into the mist and the last traces…
