- Guests will finally get to experience a long awaited trip to a galaxy far, far way via the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser beginning on March 1, 2022! Reservations for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be open on October 28, 2021. Disney Vacation Club members, Disney Passholders and Disney Visa Cardmembers will have an early booking window available. Find out more about this new experience here.
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT afinally has an opening timeline – 2022! Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open as a part of the Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. Disney is calling this experience the first “other-world” showcase pavilion. The attraction will invite us on an intergalactic chase through space and time! The pavilion will be known as the Wonders of Xander Pavilion. When completed, it will feature a planetarium-type presentation where Xandarians will show us their world, their people and their advanced technologies. The attraction will be a family-friendly adventure, featuring a totally new type of roller coaster experience known as a storycoaster that will rotate 360 degrees. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will also feature the first reverse launch on a coaster in Disney history and it will be one of the longest enclosed coasters in the world. - Disney has shared that they have a brand new project with Amazon called “Hey, Disney!” So, just what does this new partnership mean? Well, it means that Disney and Amazon have worked to create a custom assistant that uses Disney stories, characters, and more as part of Amazon’s Alexa technology. And you won’t just be able to have access to this at home! You’ll actually get to use this technology in your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel room too. At the resort, you’ll be able to use “Hey, Disney!” to make your vacation easier, more meaningful and more fun. More details can be found here.
- Disney has announced that they are updating MagicBand with the next generation called MagicBand+. All of the hands-free perks of using a MagicBand will still work for MagicBand+. Guests will still have a more convenient and hands-free experience including things like park and guest room entry, retail and dining, Disney PhotoPass and more. But there will be more.For example, after you enter a theme park, MagicBand+ will come alive at various times with color-changing lights, haptic vibrations and gesture recognition. You’ll also be able to play like a bounty hunter in a galaxy far, far away and find virtual bounties throughout Black Spire Outpost in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, interact with the “Disney Fab 50 Character Collection,” and experience nighttime spectaculars in a new way as you see your band light up.
