Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios are two unique parks. One focuses on animals and nature while the other focuses on movies. Here are the best rides for families at each of these parks.
Animal Kingdom

To start your journey off, head to Pandora- The World Of Avatar. Here the whole family can enjoy a ride along the Na’Vi River. This ride is located within the Valley of Mo’ara and offers views that can’t be beat. Coast through caves, take in unique plants and creatures of the rainforest. The whole family will enjoy this breathtaking experience.
Enjoying the Safari Ride
From the World of Avatar to the African Safaris, the family is sure to be amazed. Enjoy a ride on the Kilimanjaro Safari. This 18 minute ride through the Harambe Wildlife Reserve will give families a look at African animals in their natural habitats. From the fierce lions of the pride lands to the graceful giraffes, riders will see a variety of different animals right outside their truck. Each trip is a different experience. Try it out in the evening to see different animals and experience new sights.
The Wildlife Express Train is another option for families. This ride will take guests to Rafiki’s Planet Watch and is about a 7-minute ride. Once there guests can experience the preservation and conservation that Disney is working on in Animal Kingdom. Along the train ride, you are able to see housing for animals as well as the veterinary facilities for some of the animals.
TriceraTop Spin
Finally, families can enjoy a spin together on TriceraTop Spin. Soar into the sky on a baby Triceratop. Kids will enjoy the excitement of flying high. They can also be the masters of their ride as they can control the height of the dinosaur as well as the tilt of it. This classic ride is sure to bring a smile to the faces of families.
Those are the main family friendly rides at Animal Kingdom. Heading on over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios next to see what rides they offer the whole family.
Unfortunately with the construction at Hollywood Studios, family ride options are limited. This doesn’t mean there aren’t things for families to do here. Instead these activities just might not be rides. On the positive side, with the opening up of Toy Story Land sometime in the future, it would seem like more family friendly rides would be coming.
Toy Story Mania
The main family friendly ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is Toy Story Mania. As you step into Andy’s room you will grab your 3D glass and make your way to your carnival ride like tram. Equipped with a spring action shooter families are now ready to compete against one another in a fun, fast-paced games. There are five games throughout the ride where guests are asked to shoot at different items. This will leave families laughing and coming back for more.
As of right now this is the only true family ride at Hollywood Studios. Although some families are able to enjoy Star Tours together, this isn’t for everyone and does have a height requirement. Like stated earlier, this doesn’t mean the Hollywood Studios doesn’t have things for families to do, they are just much more show focused.
