Walt Disney World Weekly News Update

Walt Disney World News

  • Right now, Guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort will be able to participate in a test using facial recognition technology to enter the theme parks. This test will take place through April 23. The Walt Disney World Resort is shifting focus to utilizing more and more touchless experiences and using facial recognition technology is one way to do that. How does it work? The technology that is being tested actually captures an image of a Guest’s face. That image is then converted into a unique number, which is then associated with the form of admission that is being used to enter the park. More details can be found here.
  • The Walt Disney World Resort is gearing up for the 50th anniversary by updating the Main Street Confectionary at the Magic Kingdom. The update will include a fresh new look and an expanded layout with more room to shop. In addition, there will be new interactive opportunities that will allow Guests to customize their confections in ways they’ve never been able to do before. Find out more details about this refurbishment, as well as where to grab treats for the time being here.
  • It’s almost April and that means we’ll soon not only be celebrating Earth Month, but also Disney’s Animal Kingdom‘s anniversary month! (The park officially opened on Earth Day 1998!) To celebrate the park and the month overall, from April 18 to 24, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will offer Guests the opportunity to celebrate with limited-time experiences. Take a look at how you’ll be able to celebrate here.
