Did you hear the exciting news? It appears that Rivers of Light at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will officially finally be debuting this month! The show will debut on February 17 and then Guests will be able to catch the show on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays until April 8. After that time, they’ll be able to enjoy the nighttime spectacular nightly.
For those who are unaware, Rivers of Light will takes place on Discovery River and will include special effects, music and animal folklore. The show begins with an awakening of flitting fireflies that lead to a procession across the water. Then, lanterns will morph into one of four stunning animal spirit forms—the Tiger, Turtle, Elephant and Owl. This 15 minute show will feature song, light, color water, and earthly elements.
But it’s Foodie Friday, so what does this have to do with food? Well, Guests looking to see this show will be able to purchase a special Rivers of Light Dining Package! Those who purchase this package will be able to enjoy a meal from one of two participating restaurants and then receive premium seating for that evening Rivers of Light presentation.
One of the participating restaurants is Tusker House. This delicious buffet serves dishes with a bit of an African flair. Oh and did I mention that it’s also a character meal, so you’ll be able to meet Donald, Daisy, and other fun Disney favorites! Breakfast will cost $39.00 for adults (ages 10 and up) and $23.00 for children (ages 3-9). Lunch and dinner will cost $52.00 for adults and $32.00 for children.
Looking for something a little more upscale? Consider one of my personal favorites, Tiffins. Guests can dine enjoy either lunch or dinner and will receive an appetizer, entree, and dessert with the Rivers of Light Dining Package. The cost is $67.00 for adults and $26.00 for children.
Guests will receive their voucher for Rivers of Light reserved sating at the time of the meal. Make sure to arrive 15-35 minutes prior to showtime, otherwise you may not get in, even if you have paid for the dining package. Do keep in mind that seating is first come, first served. Guests who purchase the dinner package will need to enter the theater on the DinoLand U.S.A. side.
