It’s a table service restaurant that I fully admit….I often forget about. Despite it’s incredibly unique theme, Jungle Skipper Canteen is just a place I never think about dining at when visiting the Magic Kingdom. This spot is themed as an outpost for the crews of the infamous Adventureland classic, Jungle Cruise. This restaurant takes the theme to the next level, with three different dining room options – the Crew’s Mess Hall, Falls Family Parlor and Secret Meeting Room of the S.E.A.. In addition, the Cast Members here also tell incredibly bad puns to tie into the Jungle Cruise attraction’s schtick.

The menu offerings here are incredibly unique, with lots of great flavors all meshed together. It’s a lot of tropical dishes, with African, Asian, and Latin influences.

We stared with the appetizer of the Brazilian Cheese Bread. This was not officially on the menu, but a special offering for the day. These were amazing. They were heavenly bites of dough and cheese and the dipping sauces were the perfect accompaniment.

We also tried the “Tastes Like Chicken” – Because It Is!, which is Crispy Fried Chicken with Jasmine Rice, Chili Glaze, and Seasonal Vegetables. This was really good, though I did think the chicken may have been cooked a little too long. It wasn’t as juicy as I was hoping. But I like the flavors that were present.

I also got the “Hardy Har Char” Siu Pork, which was Char Siu-marinated Pork served with Seasonal Vegetables and Jasmine Rice.  There was a lot of meat here and the flavors here were very good again. It had a lot of zing to it, but again, I did feel as though the meat had been cooked just a little too long and that my meat was a little fatty.

With all that being said, we did enjoy our meal at Jungle Skipper Canteen. I would definitely go back and truthfully, it was one of my husband’s favorite meals we’ve had at Walt Disney World.

Are you curious about the full menu? You can find it here.

We were there January 16, 2022. I was told they weren’t doing Brazilian bread. So disappointed. Then they were not able to do veranda fried rice or the sustainable fish dish. Done with the restaurant. Excuses were insufficient. Post before you sit down items unavailable. After all the restaurant hype very disappointed.
