Amusement Park days to benefit GKTW Village

Throughout 2019, amusement parks all over the nation hosted Coasting for Kids events to raise money for Give Kids the World Village. With 15 different parks participating, the events raised almost $140,000 for the 84-acre resort in Central Florida that fulfills wishes for critically ill children and their families. In 2020 several parks were able to continue the tradition in a more limited capacity. This year’s Coasting for Kids will add to the excitement with Olympics-style events!

In 2019 I participated in 2 of these events in Texas. Both events allowed early entry into the parks with special ride time. Six Flags Fiesta Texas even provided a delicious breakfast buffet. Top fundraising individuals and teams were recognized in an awards ceremony and awarded commemorative plaques.

This year each park will host Olympic-style events to add to the excitement of the day. Bronze, silver and gold medals will be awarded to winners of events like midway game competitions, rollercoaster distance races, and food challenges that vary by park.

Interested participants are asked sign up at and raise at least $100 in support of Give Kids The World Village. With this donation participants will receive a T-shirt, park entrance and special Coasting for Kids day access to exclusive perks at one of 7 amusement parks.

This first 2021 Coasting for Kids day was hosted by Holiday World on June 5th.
