Anandapur Local Foods Cafe Dining Review

This year, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will become the place to visit. I can just feel it. With the addition of both Pandora: The World of Avatar and the nighttime spectacular Rivers of Light, plus all the other great nighttime extras that were added to the park last year, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will become the hot spot.

Of course, you’re going to want to be able to enjoy a meal here and let me tell you, I have a great suggestion for either lunch or dinner. While Flame Tree Barbecue and Harambe Market are standouts, one of my favorite places to grab a bite is actually the Anandapur Local Foods Cafe. The restaurant, found in the Asia section of the park offers up delicious Asian-inspired cuisine.

Anandapur Local Foods Cafe is a quick service location that features all outdoor seating. (You’ll love sitting by the water feature.) Guests order at kiosks manned by Cast Members and then pick up their food at the window.

One of my favorite dishes to get is the Honey Chicken. The dish features Tempura Chicken, Carrots, Snap Peas, Honey Sauce and White Rice. The chicken is the perfect amount of crisp with not too much in the way of breading. The honey sauce is sweet with just a hint of tang. There really isn’t terribly much in the way of vegetables…just a few cursory carrot strips and snap peas. The rice is cooked well and just a little bit sticky.

I’ve also enjoyed the Teriyaki Beef Bowl served with Marinated Beef, Carrots, Snap Peas, Mushrooms in Sweet Teriyaki Sauce with White Rice. Again, This dish had good flavor to it. The sauce was quite yummy, however I did find the meat to be a touch fatty. Also, there wasn’t nearly as much meat in this dish as their was with the chicken. There were more vegetables though. (Albeit, a little heavy on the onion.) So, it depends on what you’re looking for. Personally, I prefer the dish with more meat overall.

Oh and if you’re looking for one of the best values overall, it comes from one of their sides. You can get a nice portion of Chicken Fried Rice for just $3.99! It’s a good size serving and quite great.

So, if you’re looking for a great meal at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that’s certainly off the beaten path, make sure to stop by Anandapur Local Foods Cafe.
