Located on deck 4 aft onboard the Disney Wish, Worlds of Marvel Avengers: Quantum Encounter is one of the two rotational dining venues offering dinner and a show.

The storyline is that Ant-Man and The Wasp embark on their first public-speaking engagement on behalf of the Avengers. How do I know that? Well, to be honest, I had to Google it. I am readily admitting that I am not a huge Marvel fan, and even though I like dining with shows I am not thrilled when the entire experience is distracting me from the food and from those who share my table.

Worlds of Marvel Avengers: Quantum Encounter has unique decor, from the metallic bread service plates to the action-packed Avengers missions from Marvel movies shown on the large screens throughout the restaurant. Each table is fitted with an “interactive” Quantum Core that is to shrink and grow objects at the push of a button.

Now to the menu. Dinner started with a bread service of a Marble Loaf with a Red Bell Pepper Dipping Sauce. My favorite starter was the Steamed Bao Buns with Seared Ginger Orange Pork Belly, Toasted Sesame Seeds, Pickled Daikon, Spring Onions, and Mirin Soy Honey Glaze.

Another nice appetizer was the Crispy Breaded Fried Shrimp with White Cheddar and Corn Grits, Bell Peppers, Collard Greens, and Smokehouse Barbecue Sauce.

I did not care much for the Heirloom Tomato Salad, but the Iceberg Wedge with Candied Pecans, Smoked Bacon Lardons, Black and Globe Radish, and Maytag Blue Cheese was fresh and tasty. To be honest, while very good, I just did not get why an iceberg salad that one can get in any restaurant throughout our country would be part of a Marvel dinner show.

The Kartoffelsuppe, a Creamed Potato Soup with Carrots, Celery, Knockwurst, and Thyme was great, though I did not find much Knockwurst in it.

Main courses we tried: The Delmonico Rib-Eye Steak with Black Truffle Butter with Whipped Yukon Gold Potatoes, Green Asparagus, and a Cabernet Reduction was promising, but, unfortunately, it came at room temperature, which made it impossible for the truffle butter to smoothly melt over the steak. The Seared Turbot Filet with Sweet Pea Purée, Roasted Heirloom Carrots, Romanesco, Pancetta, and Tarragon Sandefjord Sauce was excellent.

We finished the meal sharing the Nano Dobos Torta, a Layered Cake with Rich Chocolate Truffle Cream and Caramel was delicious. The Dobos Torta reminded me of the original cake created by Hungarian chef József C. Dobos in 1885. I have had it several times while visiting Hungary, and this was the best rendition I have enjoyed since.

At the end of the dinner, we were served “off menu” Pym Particle-shrunken chocolate-chip shortbread cookies, and they were yummy.

While the nonstop visual action and the intrusive loud music played throughout dinner at Worlds of Marvel, I think there is hope for this venue. I really would have loved a storyline that featured the 2018 Marvel movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. There are endless possibilities, including telling the amazing story featuring the Black Panther and the many women warriors.
