Big changes have happened within the Walt Disney World Resort. It was shared that the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels would now be charging parking fees for Guests who are staying overnight and who have a vehicle. Each resort category will have a different pricing structure per night for those who will be needing to self-park. This goes in to effect for any reservations made March 21, 2018 and thereafter.
- Value: $13 per night
- Moderate: $19 per night
- Deluxe and Deluxe Villas: $24 per night
All parking fees include tax.
Those looking to utilize valet parking may now do so for $33 per night at select Disney Deluxe Resorts and Disney Deluxe Villas.
There is two exceptions to the nightly parking fee. First those Guests who are staying at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campsites will be offered complimentary standard parking and each campsite will provide a parking space for one vehicle. Also, for those who are Disney Vacation Club members who are staying at a Disney Vacation Club Deluxe Villa or when using points to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, they will not be charged for overnight parking.
Parking fees will not be part of your package or room-only reservation. Instead, these fees will be applied to your final room bill and must be paid upon check out.
Those who are day Guests and are just visiting the resort to dine, shop, participate in recreation, or take in entertainment will still receive complimentary self parking.

Do we know why they are implementing this?
I’ve already booked my Summer vacation staying at a Disney resort so am I right in saying that I won’t have to pay these parking charges? It’s only reservations that are made on or after 21st March and everyone who is staying after that date. The text on the website is misleading. After just booking my car rental for over $1000 for 3 weeks, this parking charge would be tragic for our budget! Thanks! Scott from the UK
That is correct. If you booked your vacation prior to March 21, you would not have to pay the parking fee, no matter when your vacation is.
Disney is making it very difficult for families on a budget to go there for a vacation.
That is so sad to read. I guess a resort fee charge will be next. We love staying on Disney property but Disney is making it harder and harder to do that. We always rent a car to visit family and friends so I guess our next trip I will be looking into hotels off property. I have noticed alot of them offer specials with free parking and resort fees. It won’t be the same but we travel with a budget.
Well, at least the Vacation Club members will FINALLY get a break on something!
Don’t think this additional parking fee is fair!
We pay ALOT of $$$to stay “on property” , tickets , food and souvenirs. My question is WHY? It’s not the ppl staying on property who “cheat” or take advantage of the system, it’s day guests who try to park at hotels, or the Springs for free! Prices just keep going up and up on everything !
Why do they need to punish those of us that drive? Are they missing out on bus fares from the airport? Come on Mickey, I thought you were the “Happiest Place on Earth” not the greediest!! I can see in the future one of their “perks” will be free parking, what a deal, give us something for free that was always free. Very disappointing! Shame on you!
Total BS. Total greed on Disney’s part. Whats next toilet paper fees?
This is so backwards! Charge the people not staying at the property. Not the people who are already paying and spending a ton of money with you.
While it is never a happy thing to have to pay for something that was formerly free, the fact is that most resorts do charge parking and/or resort fees. Universal has been charging for parking at their hotels for many years, the Swan and Dolphin also charge for parking and a resort fee, and most of the hotels in the Disney Springs area charge a parking fee. I am disappointed to see them add another fee on top of the already pricey rooms for those of us who must drive or simply prefer to do so. If free parking at the parks go away, that will be a powerful disincentive to staying on site when an off site hotel may be significantly less expensive, even with paying for daily parking at the parks.
This is just another example of Disney greed to get everything from the average person. As a premier passholder our annual pass just went up to over $1500/year. When profits are up and the wages that they pay are down, they are just trying to squeezed every penny possible out of the consumer. So much for Disney magic.
It saddens me that this seems nevessary. When you book a moderate resort or delux resort why charge them- are we not already paying a premium price. If this is a cost thing then raise your prices at the parks where all participate in the cost. But to punish the ones that stay on property is counter intuitive to promoting those on property customers. Even as a Florida resident I am embarrased that we have to gly to avoid the cost. This is very poor marketing on your part. You might start charging us utilities really???????
It is ridiculous! My $5,000 Vacation just added a whopping $150 – talk about nickel and dime nonsense! I’ll be going to Universal now – suck it Disney!!!
I find it vary unfair to charge for parking at the resort you are paying to stay at. Staying at the resorts is expensive to begin with and now we are looking at an additional charge. When I first saw the fee mentioned it said the persons with disabilities were not going to be charged, but now it is no longer saying that. So what is it going to be? Come on Mickey you are getting pretty money hungry.
Disney is really making it not worth it to go there. I am getting so disappointed in them. We don’t spend enough money just staying in their hotel, going into the parks, and then paying for food and souvenirs????? Shame on you Disney for being so money hungry!!!! You’ve really priced us out! I used to love going there 🙁
I think this is terrible! If you are pay for accommodations your parking should be included. I have never stayed at a resort that charged overnight guests to park. Days guests maybe but not overnight guests.
total BS. been going to Disney every year since 1990 sometimes twice. this is totally greed. they make billions in profits quarterly. this will be the last time i will be coming down for awhile. what does it accomplish? they have a guard at the gate anyways. this really makes me mad. when is enough money enough. they never explain to their guest anything. They must be charging us to make up for their failing political ESPN.
There is an answer to all of this people. Stop going there altogether.
This is not cool! I don’t typically have a vehicle at WDW, but there is no excuse for this charge. It’s like being charged to use the safe in a hotel room.
What happened to Walt’s Dream of a place where all families could come for a great time ? Not a place for the Rich Only at the Greediest Place on Earth. What’s next ? Fees for heat in the winter , air conditioning in the summer and to have running water in the rooms.
One of the advantages of a Disney resort was to not pay for parking at the parks. Now they charge you more to park at the resort. So much for that advantage.
What about pass holders? We can park free at parks but not hotels? Thank
goodness we had our reservation before. If we have to pay parking as pass holders
this will be last time we stay inside
I think it is sad that Disney is doing this. A normal family with children can not afford to go and enjoy themselves. All Disney is doing is punishing the children.
This is absolutely insane…and greedy on Disney’s part. But then, they don’t really need U.S. citizens at DisneyWorld…they make more off of people from other countries. And this new charge is after yet another ticket increase. Wow…way to go Disney…after all, money is the most important thing. Maybe people who chose to drive are usually on a budget, and don’t spend enough…and Disney is feeling cheated. Sigh…
Anything that makes staying at Disney even more expensive (parking fees)
makes it even more difficult to justify the already high cost of Disney.
Terrible. Most likely if you are driving you have a family and it’s more economical to drive. It’s bad enough you can’t get a family of five in a value resort.
Shame on Disney. They are bleeding guests. Its expensive enough at todays prices. Add to that the additional fee for Priority Parking at the parks. That should have been a clue that this would follow. Its corporate greed at its finest. Very disappointing. Disney will not be our first choice going forward.
This news is so sad we have been going to Disney World for over 20 years, my children(now graduating from college) have grown up with vacations there. First we stayed on property, then as our family grew and fees per person increased we bought a villa in Orlando and started staying off property. Not what we wanted but this allowed us to continue going there within our budget. Then of course cost of theme park fees for parking (ok I get that ) but they have increased so much lately. They went from $20 in December to $22 when we came back the first week in March. Really increasing it again, there has been a yearly increase for a very long time. Now people inside the park will be paying the same fees as those of us using the parks but they really loose because now onsite guests pay the fee even if they aren’t entering the park. When we go to the park lately it is filled with foreigners who don’t speak English and can not read the signs or follow the cast members directions. I feel like I am in a foreign country. So sad to see Walt’s dream destroyed. I am certain it would not be in line with his ideas of family friendly, excellent service world. It breaks my heart to see it go down hill and get worse every year. What new charge is next? I had hope that someday in the future I would be able to take grandchildren there but by that time it may just be a long lost memory like my grandparents used to tell about places they visited in their childhoods. Another sad day for US business establishment and US citizens.
I believe the saddest thing is that Walt always wanted to keep prices down so everyone could get a chance to experience Disney. Of course his brother Roy would tell him that he had to raise prices every so often so that Walt could continue to add to his dream. But today, man, things have gotten WAY out of hand This Iger guy is the worst! Creed is now the operative word at Disney.
Makes me sad. I thought one of the perks of staying on site was free parking. Now to pay…it almost feels like I’m being punished for driving instead of flying. I think I’m ok this trip but next time. Doesn’t look that way 🙁 sad sad.
Ya’ know, Walt and his brother Roy are both long gone now, and ever since Eisners reign, things there have become a sad joke. Pure and simple greed are now the way of life at Disney…..
