November has brought several things to the Disney Parks, as well as been a time to say goodbye to some favorite attractions. November has a personal Disney Parks moment for me, my husband proposed to me on November 21st, 2009 at Disneyland! November is also Mickey’s birthday month!!  On November 18, 1928 Steamboat Willie (Mickey’s debut cartoon) premiered in New York, so grab yourself a birthday treat and check out what else happened in November at the Parks!

November 1, 1986 – The Golden Horseshoe Jamboree (formerly known as the Golden Horseshoe Review) opens in Frontierland at Disneyland.

November 2, 1992 – The Mission to Mars attraction at Disneyland closes.

November 5, 1990 – Disney’s Yacht Club Resort hotel opens in Walt Disney World.

November 9, 1994 – The Skyway to Tomorrowland/Skyway to Fantasyland attraction in Disneyland closes, due the development of stress cracks in supports within the Matterhorn. Almost all evidence of the ride was removed within weeks, with the exception of the station in Fantasyland which currently sits empty and mostly hidden from view (although if you look hard enough you could probably find it behind some trees).

November 10, 1993 – The Green Thumb Emporium shop opens in The Land in Epcot Center, it replaced Broccoli & Co.

November 12, 1993 – The Village Traders shop opens in World Showcase at EPCOT Center.

November 15, 1965 – At the Cherry Plaza Hotel in Orlando, Florida, Walt Disney, Roy Disney, and Florida Governor Hayden Burns make the first public announcement of plans to build a new Disney theme park near Orlando. Estimated cost was around $100 million.

November 18, 1993 – The bronze statue Partners of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse is installed at Disneyland.

November 19, 1990 – Disney’s Beach Club Resort hotel opens in Walt Disney World.

November 21, 1994 – The Timekeeper show opens in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

November 22, 1963 – Following the assassination of US President John Kennedy, Disneyland closes for the remainder of the day.

November 23, 1989 – The Delizie Italiane shop opens in the Italy pavilion in World Showcase in EPCOT Center at Walt Disney World.

November 23, 1994 – The Spaceship Earth attraction in EPCOT Center reopens after a renovation, update includes narration by Jeremy Irons.

November 24, 1955 – The Mickey Mouse Club Circus attraction opens in Disneyland.

November 25, 1971 – The Circle Vision 360 opens and premiers the film America the Beautiful in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
