World Showcase Lagoon

It’s almost that time of year, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. And if, like me, you prefer magical castles, pixie dust, and enchanted roses over Cupid’s bow and arrows, this is the post for you. In the spirit of the season, I’ve compiled my top 5 most romantic locations at the Disney World Parks, that don’t require additional admission or fees.

1.) Disney’s Boardwalk

Modeled after 1920’s Atlantic City, Disney’s Boardwalk is a quarter mile stretch of shops, dining, and entertainment. During the evening hours, the buildings glow alive with lights, which combined with the glistening waterfront provide for a very romantic setting. Explore the beauty and charm of the Boardwalk Inn, be wowed by passing street performers, delight in a “dueling pianos” show at Jellyrolls, or dance the night away at the Atlantic Dance Hall. That being said, most of the Boardwalk’s romantic allure lies in an evening stroll, hand in hand with the one you love, taking in the view and ambiance.

2.) Liberty Square Riverboat

The Liberty Square Riverboat attraction is a tame, but scenic ride through the Rivers of America. Travelers aboard the riverboat can expect to spot Native Americans, woodland creatures, and unique views of The Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain. For a more romantic setting, I suggest embarking aboard the Riverboat during the early evening hours. (On a hot Florida day, this slow moving steam engine vessel doesn’t generate quite enough wind to keep cool.) The twinkling lights of the boat along the majestic river set the mood for a romantic journey through yesteryear.

3.) Disney’s Wedding Pavilion

Whether you want to reminisce about your magical wedding, or fantasize about having your own one day, the Wedding Pavilion at the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon is sure to impress. The chapel is situated between a beautiful backdrop of the Lagoon, along with a picturesque view of Cinderella’s Castle. If there is not a wedding taking place, you can explore the Pavilion, the bride and groom vestibules, and the beautiful gardens on the grounds.

4.) Celebration

This quaint community is nestled a quick 5 miles from the Disney Parks and is well worth a visit. Based on the original idea of Walt Disney’s “City of Tomorrow”, this small town oasis boasts a charming downtown area with shops, restaurants, and a water front park. The downtown district offers the perfect back drop for a romantic stroll or stop at a café to do some people watching. Surrounding the town center, you will find beautiful Victorian, Colonial, and Mediterranean styled homes with perfectly manicured lawns. The friendly atmosphere of this postcard town will easily leave an imprint on your heart.

5.) San Angel Inn Restaurante

The San Angel Inn Restaurante is a very romantic lunch or dinner destination that won’t break the bank. Located inside the Mexico Pavilion at Epcot and featuring traditional Mexican cuisine, this restaurant set in “perpetual twilight” will set the romantic mood no matter what time of day. Guests can watch riders float by on the La Gran Fiesta attraction, while enjoying the view of a Mayan pyramid and smoking volcanos. After dinner explore all the Pavilion has to offer, including a mariachi band, shops with traditional Mexican souvenir’s, and the boat ride attraction La Gran Fiesta featuring the Three Caballeros. Prices range from $15-$30 and advanced dining reservations are suggested.
