Foodie Friday: The Newly Refurbished Roaring Fork at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Over the past few months, one of my favorite quick service stops has been closed for refurbishment as it saw a very large upgrade. Roaring Fork, located at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has recently reopened and given my affinity for the dining establishment, I wanted to make sure I stopped in to see what’s changed.

The overall decor of Roaring Fork has changed and it’s a beautiful space. The restaurant feels a lot warmer and it seems to have an overall better flow.

On the the far wall now, Guests will find fridges for cold grab and go items, the bakery options, and packaged snacks. This area has definitely been expanded with more offerings for Guests. (I am happy to say that my favorite treat, the Magic Cookie Bar is still here!) Guests will also find package snacks throughout the entire restaurant. The back section is where Cast Members prepare food. Finally, in the front is where Guests will be able to look at the menu boards and order dishes. So, Guests should grab any snacks they are looking for first, then head to place their order at the cashier.

One thing that’s a little awkward is there aren’t a lot of cashiers for Guests, though there never really has been. There are two terminals where you order and one along the back wall. Would have been nice if this was something that had been addressed in the refurbishment, but it is what it is.

Overall, the new Roaring Fork feels more spacious and has a cleaner look overall.

Once Guests place their order, they then head into the next room where they can access the beverage station. Here they will also find condiments, as well as a microwave. When Guests’ orders are ready, they will be able to pick them up via the newly installed pick-up window. There is seating in this room, but it is at a minimum. However, the paltry seating was addresses with this refurbishment, as Disney has added plenty of additional seating outside in a brand new area that is covered.

Guests will find that the menu has seen some updates as well. New items include:

  • Brisket Burger Tillamook Cheddar Cheese, Cranberry Barbecue Sauce, Cast Iron Onions, and Apple Frisée on a Sweet Brioche Bun
  • Gourmet Grilled Cheese with White Cheddar, Arugula, Tomato, and Onion Jam on Multigrain Bread
  • Vine-ripened Tomatoes, Roasted Garlic, and Riccotta Cheese Flatbread
  • 10-Hour Smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich with Chipotle-Apple Barbecue Sauce, creamy Slaw on a Sweet Brioche Bun

  • Campfire Cupcake (Review on this coming soon!)

Roaring Fork offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Roaring Fork also has a sister counter service restaurant at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge called Geyser Point.

I liked the new upgrades and think that they definitely addressed some problems with the previous layout. Of course, not everything is perfect, but given the way the restaurant is laid out, minus a complete gut job, I think they did an excellent job.
