A while back, Disney announced that they would be retheming both Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s versions of Splash Mountain to an attraction based on the animated classic, The Princess and the Frog. We now have an official name for this updated attraction. It will be called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and it will officially open sometime in late 2024.
The latest details were released at ESSENCE Fest in New Orleans. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be all-new adventure. It will bring Guests into the film like never before at the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park.
To prepare for the attraction, Walt Disney Imagineers have conducted extensive research in Louisiana. They have explored the French Market and the bayou. They’ve even consulted with academics, chefs, musicians and cultural institutions.
Charita Carter, executive producer of relevancy activations at Walt Disney Imagineering shared, “in many ways, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a love letter to New Orleans. Like the musical city that inspired this attraction, Tiana’s second act is about a community working in harmony to achieve something extraordinary. She reminds us of an immutable truth we can all relate to: ‘if you do your best each and every day, good things are sure to come your way.’ And that’s a melody we can all sing along to!”
The attraction was first announced in 2020, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will take guests on a musical adventure inspired by the beloved story and characters from the fan-favorite film. Picking up where the film left off, Guests will join Princess Tiana, Naveen and alligator Louis through the bayou. They are getting ready to prepare to host a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration. Along the way, guests will encounter familiar faces, make new friends and travel through the bayou. They will experience original music inspired by songs from the film.
With this latest attraction update, Disney did not share any details about when either Splash Mountain attraction would be closing. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest about this refurbishment.
