Earlier this year, it was announced that Disney’s Animal Kingdom would be a full park holiday overlay! Today, we were able to get a sneak peek of what Guests will be able to expect to experience when stepping through the gates, as the whole park will be decorated in holiday cheer that’s themed to each land.
When Guests enter, they will head to Discovery Island where they will find themselves in the midst of a celebration of winter. There will be white holiday decorations and animal-inspired luminaries that line the rooftops. During the daytime hours, Discovery Island will even feature winter animals with artisan-sculpted puppets, including reindeer, foxes, polar bears, penguins and more. In the evening, the Tree of Life Awakening will include a series of wintry tales that will be complemented by a holiday-inspired musical score.
In Asia, Guests will find that they are celebrating Diwali, the holiday festival of lights in India. Glowing flowers, lanterns and more illuminate the square between Anandapur Theater and the waterfront stage.
The Africa section will offer new decor. In addition, DinoLand, U.S.A. will include the Truck-O-Saurus pumping holiday tunes. Plus, your favorite characters will be found wearing their holiday best.
Finally, in Pandora – The World of Avatar, the ex-pats living and working on the moon will bring a little Christmastime fun to their home, with a display of kitschy holiday décor at Pongu Pongu that combines vintage pieces from Earth with items handcrafted from materials indigenous to Pandora.
