Today, in Comcast’s earnings call, they officially confirmed what we’d only suspected. Super Nintendo World will in fact be one of the new lands that will be part of the upcoming Epic Universe theme park.
This new land will allow visitors to experience some of their favorite iconic games, like Super Mario Bros., Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and more all in real life. This won’t be the first Super Nintendo World, however. The first one will open this summer in Japan and there is a fantastic teaser trailer that was released that makes me excited for what could potentially come to the Orlando version.
According to the earnings call, “Nintendo, based on our research, is the biggest potential driver in attendance you can have in terms of intellectual properties. It’s up there with Harry Potter, and in some of our parks, Harry Potter drives incremental attendance of 2 million people.”
Universal’s Epic Universe was announced back in August. The park, which will be Universal’s fourth theme park behind Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay water park, will allow Guests to travel into beloved stories and through vibrant lands on adventures where the journey is as astounding as the destination. Epic Universe will be located at a new campus about 12 minutes from the main Universal Orlando Resort. The park itself is slated to open in 2023.
