Our family loves to visit the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure at Disney\u2019s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida.\u00a0 Although my children are getting older, \u201cHoney\u201d is still one of the highlights of our trip.<\/p>\n

When watching the Honey I Shrunk the Kids movie, what child doesn\u2019t daydream about shrinking down to spec-sized humans and having a thrilling adventure in you\u2019re their own back yard?\u00a0 Disney brings this kind of daydream to life in their Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure.<\/p>\n

Upon entering the playground, people are \u201cmagically transformed\u201d to smaller-than-ant-size and can romp and play in this giant-sized world to their hearts content.\u00a0 We always take a picture of the boys riding on Anty\u2019s back and sliding down the film canister slide.\u00a0 The boys loved to stick their hands in the giant dog\u2019s nose as he sniffs them and the run by the water-spray area to cool off.<\/p>\n

This is also a place where the young at heart can have a great time.\u00a0 I will never forget seeing my mother explore the \u201ccaves\u201d with her grandchildren with as much excitement as they had.\u00a0 And I must admit that this mom has enjoyed the slides and the spider web climb as much as her children.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, visiting Honey is high on our list of \u201cmust-do\u2019s\u201d at Hollywood Studios.\u00a0 However, we found out the hard way that the playground closes for safety purposes when it rains.\u00a0 We were about to enter, when it began to rain, and we were told the playground had to close until the rain cleared up.\u00a0 Unfortunately for us, it was already late in the day, and Honey closes at dusk.\u00a0 We were in danger of not being able to visit one of our favorite attractions.<\/p>\n

We decided to experience other attractions in hopes that the weather cleared, and in true Florida fashion it soon did.\u00a0 However, Honey remained closed as long as it was too wet to be safe.\u00a0 As we went from attraction to attraction wondering if Honey had reopened and watching the sun descend, our hope of visiting the fun playground descended too, but then the unbeatable and unmatchable customer service that Disney\u2019s Cast Members (CMs) are famous for came shining through.<\/p>\n

As we were waiting to see Playhouse Disney, I asked a CM if he thought Honey would reopen.\u00a0 He said he did not know, but would be happy to check.\u00a0 I had not thought of asking CMs to radio Honey for status updates, but he was more than willing to do that.\u00a0 At each subsequent attraction, I asked a CM to check on Honey for me.\u00a0 That is how I learned that the CM refer to this attraction as \u201cHoney.\u201d\u00a0 They were all so kind and gracious, and thankfully, just before sunset, Honey reopened!<\/p>\n

We sprinted to the attraction and played until it closed, happily sacrifice our dinner reservations at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater in order to play.\u00a0 Maybe the experience was sweeter because we almost did not get to do it or maybe because the crowds had thinned (or given up) by that time.\u00a0 Whatever the reason, we had a magical time playing and laughing and taking some great pictures.<\/p>\n

This year my boys are 10 and 8-years-old, and definitely too cool for Playhouse Disney.\u00a0 But they (and their parents) will never be too cool for Honey!<\/p>\n
