Cardstock is easier than paper to trace around.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-82267\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9355-e1642888102827-300x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9355-e1642888102827-300x400.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9355-e1642888102827.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then I traced my template onto corrugated cardboard in both of the shapes. Corrugated cardboard is harder to cut out but will be stronger for wrapping the yarn around. And your cuts don&#8217;t have to be perfect because they will be covered up!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-82268\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9356-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9356-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9356-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9356.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Estimating from the mantel I hoped to string it on, I made nine hearts and Mickeys total.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-82269\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9357-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9357-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9357-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9357.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I attached one end of the strong to the back of the cardboard with masking tape. (Don&#8217;t worry, it won&#8217;t show through!)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-82270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9358-e1642888255731-341x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"341\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9358-e1642888255731-341x400.jpg 341w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9358-e1642888255731.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pro tip: I blunted the tips of my hearts just slightly to make wrapping the yarn easier<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Then the process of endlessly winding the cardboard at random angles around your shapes. A &#8220;Happy Working Song&#8221; from the movie &#8220;Enchanted&#8221; would be perfect for this step. Wind the yarn tightly but don&#8217;t bend the ears or other points.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-82271\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9359-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9359-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9359-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9359.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After much wrapping and twisting, I ended up with colorful Mickey and heart shapes for my garland. They will be slightly puffy from the many layers of yarn. \u00a0On the back side of each shape, I used a glue gun to affix the end of the yarn.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-82272\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9360-e1642888140209-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9360-e1642888140209-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9360-e1642888140209-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_9360-e1642888140209.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I also used the hot glue to string a ribbon on the back of the shapes.
