Each Moderate Resort has its own charm. I’d argue that Coronado Springs Resort<\/a> feels the closest to the Deluxe Resorts, while maintaining some of the appeal of the Value selections. Join us on a tour of the Southwest as we explore Coronado Springs Resort!<\/p>\n The resort has the new and eye-catching Gran Destino Tower<\/a> with a grand lobby and beautiful bar. This tower has the only club-level rooms in a moderate resort. The main tower connects to the convention spaces via inside hallways. There are also three groupings of rooms around the main lake known as the Casitas, Ranchos and Cabanas.<\/p>\n The recently revamped rooms follow Disney’s trend of hard-surface flooring and clean lines. The pedestals the beds rest on leave room for luggage underneath. There are many outlets and USB ports for charging electronics, and some small touches like Three Caballeros art.<\/p>\n The dressing area and bathroom have tucked quite a bit of shelving into the small space. There is a sliding set of doors separating this area from the main bedroom.<\/p>\n The shower and toilet room also has a door, and the shower uses glass doors instead of a shower curtain. All of these features give the occupants more privacy and a little more plush feel than a Value resort.<\/p>\n Coronado Springs Resort has a large pool area known as the Dig Site, with a 50-foot Mayan pyramid and a waterslide. The main pool area also has a playground, arcade, pool bar, and sand volleyball court, along with the largest hot tub on Disney property. There are also three quiet pools around the resort.<\/p>\n It wouldn’t be Disney without a gift shop! Guests can buy a few resort-specific items, as well as general merchandise like T-shirts, hats, and swimsuits. I always appreciate the small section of medicines and toiletries since those are the most-needed and most-forgotten!<\/p>\n The resort has a sangria tasting class and does Movies under the Stars several nights each week.<\/p>\n I think Coronado Springs has some of the best options for food of the Moderate category of resorts. The addition of the Gran Destino Tower added the Dahlia Lounge<\/a>, Barcelona Lounge<\/a>, and Toledo Tapas<\/a> to an already strong lineup.<\/p>\n The middle of the lagoon now sports the Three Bridges Bar and Grill<\/a>, an outdoor table service restaurant. There are tables, lounge chairs, and a bar for different levels of relaxation. You can sit by the water to feel the breeze or cozy up near a heat lamp on a cool night. We were very happy with our food here, especially the dessert churros!<\/p>\n When you’re not needing a bar or table-service level food, there is a strong food court (El Mercado de Coronado<\/a>) with a big eating area.<\/p>\n Beyond everything I’ve listed, the resort also has Maya Grill, Cafe Rix, and Rix Sports Bar and Grill. You won’t run out of places to fill your stomach! (Some of these eateries may be closed or have limited hours for the near future)<\/em><\/p>\n Coronado Springs Resort is listed in the Animal Kingdom area, but I felt it was very central to Hollywood Studios and Epcot as well. Driving to those three theme parks took us less than 10 minutes each time. There is plenty of parking around the resort perimeter, close to each set of buildings.<\/p>\n We opted to take the bus to Magic Kingdom to avoid the extra step of the Transportation and Ticket Center. Buses run frequently but can fill up fast, depending what resort stop you wait at.<\/p>\n Since the resort is set up partially for convention business, it has a few Deluxe-level amenities like a spa and so many restaurants. But it also has a good food court and spread-out relaxed layout like a Value resort.
