Many things are missing from Epcot right now because of COVID and construction. One new exhibit recently added to World Showcase is “The Soul of Jazz — An American Adventure.” The display is nestled in the lobby of the America pavilion, on the left as you walk in.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The exhibit is tied to the new Disney movie “Soul”<\/a> that premiered on Disney+ at Christmas. The film’s main character, Joe Gardner, reminds us that “this isn’t just music, this is jazz.” Jazz was born and bred in America with influences from around the country.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It’s not a huge display. There are six posters and two cases full of instruments. It’s a nice touch to have jazz music piped overheard. Depending on your level of interest, it will only take you 5 or 10 minutes to peruse, maybe until showtime for the main presentation upstairs or while you wait for a mobile order at Regal Eagle Smokehouse.<\/p>\n

My jazz-trumpet-playing teen was actually impressed when I sent him pictures of Louis Armstrong’s trumpet and Bix Biederbecke’s cornet.<\/p>\n

A talented rhythm section — including drums — is an integral part of any jazz combo or band.<\/p>\n

If you are on the Play Disney Parks app<\/a> you can take its trivia challenge.<\/p>\n

It’s nice to see Epcot pavilions adding small touches while other concerns resolve themselves. It’s not a marquee new attraction like the upcoming Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure<\/a>, but it does keep Epcot’s spirit of edu-tainment alive.<\/p>\n
