But did you know that there are seven theme park attractions that inspired movies?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Most Disney fans can list a few attractions that Disney made based on an existing film.\u00a0 But can you name the seven Disney theme park attractions that were made into movies?\u00a0 OK, there are six that have already been released and one has been delayed until July 2021.\u00a0 Plus here&#8217;s another clue &#8211; one is not based on an attraction per se but an entire land.<\/p>\n<p>Four of these movies, and one franchise, are available for viewing on Disney+ right now.\u00a0 These are great movies to watch before you go to Walt Disney World (and hopefully Disneyland soon).\u00a0 Or, watch these in your resort in Disney World on an early evening.\u00a0 Finally, you can watch these at home for an instant bit of Disney Magic.<\/p>\n<h3>The Tower of Terror (1997); the first Disney attraction made into a movie<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/disneyworld.disney.go.com\/attractions\/hollywood-studios\/twilight-zone-tower-of-terror\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror<\/a>\u00a0 was so exciting for our six-year-old that when it opened that we started a family practice of taking a picture of Stu and Pat walking down Sunset Boulevard towards the tower.\u00a0 In the years since it opened the ride has never disappointed.\u00a0 We aren\u2019t alone.\u00a0 The Tower of Terror remains one of the most popular in Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not surprising that Disney chose the relatively new, blockbuster thrill ride as the subject of its first movie adaptation of an attraction.\u00a0 The Tower of Terror, starring Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst was released as part of the \u201cWonderful World of Disney\u201d.\u00a0 Guttenberg plays a tabloid reporter trying to recover credibility by discovering what happened to a family of five that disappeared in the tower sixty years prior.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the joy when Disney attractions are made into movies is seeing what parts of the attraction make it in.\u00a0 Disney fans will revel in the details present in the attraction and a brief cameo of the attraction itself.<\/p>\n<p>Not currently on Disney+ but the DVD, Blueray and even VHS tapes are available on <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3eWU8DN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon<\/a>. It&#8217;s success caused the attraction to be renamed.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>Dinosaur (2000)<\/h3>\n<p>When <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/parks\/animal-kingdom-park\/\">Animal Kingdom<\/a> opened in 1998 the Countdown to Extinction was the only indoor dark ride available.\u00a0 Not familiar with the ride?\u00a0 It was renamed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/parks\/animal-kingdom-park\/dinosaur-dinoland-animal-kingdom\/\">Dinosaur<\/a> after Disney\u2019s second attraction based movie was released in 2000.\u00a0 The attraction takes you back in time to the end of the Cretaceous period where guests are to assist in the capture of a friendly iguanodon just prior to the meteor storm that caused the dinosaur extinction.<\/p>\n<p>The computer animated Dinosaur takes up where the ride left off.\u00a0 Aladar (D.B. Sweeney) leads his adopted family from the destroyed remains of their forest to the nesting ground.\u00a0 As in the ride, carnatours stalk and attack the small heard threatening them with, well, extinction. In a bid to promote the movie \u201cCountdown to Extinction\u201d was renamed to \u201cDinosaur.<\/p>\n<p>With multiple scenes of animated Dino on Dino violence the film is a little dark for young ones.\u00a0 Dinosaur is available on Disney+.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_78737\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-78737\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-78737\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/cb2-400x213.png\" alt=\"Seven Disney Attractions that were made into movies\" width=\"400\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/cb2-400x213.png 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/cb2.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-78737\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Maybe we are heretics but we have never been real Country Bear Jamboree fans. However we were pleasantly surprised by the movie.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>The Country Bears (2002)<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/parks\/magic-kingdom\/country-bear-jamboree\/\">Country Bear Jamboree<\/a> has been a mainstay of Walt Disney World since\u00a0 1971.\u00a0 But it the attraction goes back farther than that \u2013 it was originally planned by Walt Disney himself as an attraction at the never built Mineral King ski resort.\u00a0\u00a0 It\u2019s therefore fitting that the Country Bears came full circle for the Walt Disney Studios for it\u2019s theatrical release in 2002.\u00a0 The movie reminds me of the slap stick silly live action comedies Disney produced in the early 1960s.\u00a0\u00a0 And, it reminds me of the humor of the Country Bear Jamboree.<\/p>\n<p>The Bears are reunited by Beary Barrington (Haley Joel Osment) to perform one more concert to save Country Bear Hall from the evil Reed Thimple (Christopher Walken).\u00a0 There\u2019s music, dancing lighthearted humor and a boatload of cameos.<\/p>\n<p>Stay to the end, the cameo interviews during the credits are some of the funniest in the movie.\u00a0 Then go to Walt Disney World and enjoy the \u201clive\u201d show.\u00a0 The Country Bears is currently showing on Disney+.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_78740\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-78740\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-78740\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/hm-400x255.png\" alt=\"Seven Disney Attractions made into Movies\" width=\"400\" height=\"255\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/hm-400x255.png 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/hm.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-78740\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The haunted mansion contains many neat references for park fans.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>The Haunted Mansion (2003)<\/h3>\n<p>An icon of Disney Parks since 1969, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/parks\/magic-kingdom\/the-haunted-mansion\/\">The Haunted Mansion<\/a> is an attraction that fans return to year after year.\u00a0 A single visit to the 999 happy haunts can cement a relationship for future doom buggy trips.<\/p>\n<p>The 2003 Haunted Mansion movie tells the love story behind the mansion.\u00a0 Eddie Murphy stars as real estate agent Jim Evers who\u2019s wife (Masha Thomason) is the doppelganger for the mansion owner\u2019s fianc\u00e9.\u00a0 But the real star is the mansion and 999 haunts as they faithfully recreate sections of the ride, Disney fans can\u2019t help but smiles as groaning doors and singing statues fill cross the screen.<\/p>\n<p>The Haunted Mansion is currently available on Disney+<\/p>\n<h3>Pirates of the Caribbean; Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)<\/h3>\n<p>There is an ongoing debate as to which version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/parks\/magic-kingdom\/pirates-of-the-caribbean\/\">Pirates of the Caribbean<\/a> attraction is the best; Disneyland\u2019s or Walt Disney World\u2019s.\u00a0 But one thin is sure, a pirate\u2019s life has been one of our favorites since we watched Walt Disney tour the attraction one Sunday night during the Wonderful World of Color.<\/p>\n<p>The movie was originally conceived in the early 1990s but lingered through various directors and cast until the next century.\u00a0 Could you imagine Christopher Walken as Jack Sparrow?\u00a0 Curse of the Black Pearl was the first of the Pirate Franchise and many believe it was the best.\u00a0 This film was the closest to the attraction featuring several recognizable scenes.\u00a0 The film franchise was so popular that the attractions were overhauled to feature Captain Jack Sparrow.<\/p>\n<p>As far as &#8216;Disney Attractions Made Into Movies&#8217; go the pirates were so successful they are talking about rebooting this movie franchise.<\/p>\n<p>The Pirates of the Caribbean; Curse of the Black Pearl is currently available on Disney+.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_78739\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-78739\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-78739 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/land-400x172.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"172\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/land-400x172.png 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/land.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-78739\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Tomorrowland Movie gives the user the look and feel of the attraction.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>Tomorrowland (2015)<\/h3>\n<p>When Disneyland opened in 1955 Tomorrowland represented Walt Disney\u2019s hopes and dreams of the future.\u00a0 Unlike the other Disney locations on this list Tomorrowland is more than a single attraction; it\u2019s an entire land.\u00a0 And unlike the other movies on this list, Tommorowland, the movie, is not about a single location but the enduring hope for mankind that Walt Disney shared with us.<\/p>\n<p>One of the neat things about the movie is that it begins at the Worlds Fair in New York in 1965 where Walt Disney introduced the world to It\u2019s a Small World, , Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln, Ford&#8217;s Magic Skyway (the mechanical precursor to the Peoplemover) and the Carousel of Progress.\u00a0 Another neat idea is that Tomorrowland is in a parallel dimension whose soaring design element are familiar to anyone who has visited this dimension\u2019s version.<\/p>\n<p>Tommorowland will be available on Disney+ in September 2021.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_78738\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-78738\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-78738 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Jungle-Cruise-400x180.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Jungle-Cruise-400x180.png 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Jungle-Cruise.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-78738\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Jungle Cruise has been delayed until 2021. This gives you plenty opf team to ride the attraction first<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>The Jungle Cruise (2021) &#8211; the next Disney Attractions Made Into\u00a0 a Movie<\/h3>\n<p>Next year Disney will release \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/movies.disney.com\/jungle-cruise\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Jungle Cruise<\/a>\u201d starring Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Emily Blunt.\u00a0 The Rock, Skipper of the Jungle Cruiser and Blunt will travel the amazon in search of the mystical tree that heals all.\u00a0 The tree can also waken great evil and they are chased in the amazon by a submarine.\u00a0 The movie promises great action and Jungle Cruise humor.\u00a0 It seems like a another great partner to a an iconic attraction.<\/p>\n<p>So there are the seven theme park attractions that Disney made into movies.\u00a0 These feature ride unique to the minds of Disney Imagineers.\u00a0 What other unique attractions can you see in the future?\u00a0 Thunder Mountain?\u00a0 The Hall of Presidents?\u00a0 Unfortunately a long planed Magic Kingdom epic from Jon Favreau seems to have been abandoned.<\/p>\n<p><em>Which of these Disney Attractions Made Into Movies is your favorite?
