I keep everything we have ever done at the Animation Academy, and my attempts are not great. My Mickey Mouse looks like he\u2019s had one too many. My Grumpy looks like it\u2019s a mug shot. My Winnie the Pooh looks more like Brian from Family Guy.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-77860\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/ToyStoryAlien-400x320.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/ToyStoryAlien-400x320.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/ToyStoryAlien.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The alien begins to take shape<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>But, in the name of mother-daughter bonding time and Disney fun, I decided to give this video a try! Pixar released a tutorial on how to draw an alien from Toy Story. \u00a0In this tutorial, animator Benjamin Su shows us step-by-step how to create this character. Here is the video:<br \/><br \/><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4RYmRoW1zkQ\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\r\n<p><br \/><br \/>The first thing my daughter and I noticed is that this moves much quicker than Animation Academy. The entire lesson is only 6 minutes long, and there\u2019s no pausing for banter. But, of course, we were able to pause the video whenever we wanted to, in order to catch up with Benjamin\u2019s instructions.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-77861 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/AlienThreeeyes-400x320.jpg\" alt=\"Draw\" width=\"400\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/AlienThreeeyes-400x320.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/AlienThreeeyes.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>It wouldn&#8217;t be a Toy Story alien without the three eyes!<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>At the end of the video, Benjamin encouraged anyone who was drawing along to share a photo of their Toy Story alien on social media with the hashtag #DrawWithPixar. This isn\u2019t quite the same as holding up your finished product in the Animation Academy, but it has a chance to be seen by a wider audience, so I think that\u2019s cool!<br \/><br \/>I asked my daughter how she liked doing this little art activity. She says that she enjoyed and will be keeping her drawing in her art folder. She does wish that there was more humor and joking in the video, the way they do at Animation Academy.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-77862 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/ToyStoryArms-400x320.jpg\" alt=\"Draw\" width=\"400\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/ToyStoryArms-400x320.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/ToyStoryArms.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>I&#8217;m not happy with his hands<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>As for me, my final alien didn\u2019t turn out too badly! I feel like some of the proportions were off, and that his head should have been bigger, and his feet, also.
