Maybe you&#8217;re asking why it&#8217;s good to have a Disney notebook? Well, we\u2019re at the beginning of a new year, and you may be planning a vacation to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, or another Disney destination. I previously wrote about adding a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/2019\/08\/creating-a-disney-themed-packing-list\/\">packing list<\/a> or an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/2019\/08\/adding-an-itinerary-to-your-disney-travel-journal\/\">itinerary<\/a> to a travel journal when planning your Disney vacation. A travel journal does not need to be expensive. It can be accomplished in an ordinary notebook. Consider transforming that ordinary notebook into one that is fun and that can serve as a vacation memory.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Supplies for a Do-It-Yourself Disney Notebook<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Composition notebook or any non-spiral-bound notebook<\/li>\n<li>2 sheets of 8.5\u201d x 11\u201d Disney-themed paper (or plain paper decorated with Disney stickers, drawings, etc.)\n<ul>\n<li>Note: a heavier grade paper, like scrapbook paper, is more durable and will prevent any ghosting of the notebook\u2019s cover design through the Disney-themed paper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>3 sheets of 8.5\u201d x 11\u201d coordinating plain paper and\/or cardstock<\/li>\n<li>3.5\u2019 of coordinating ribbon<\/li>\n<li>Bookmark accessory (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Ruler<\/li>\n<li>Scissors or paper cutter<\/li>\n<li>Permanent tape adhesive (2-sided tape or a glue stick also work)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-75970 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DIY_Notebook_Supplies.jpg\" alt=\"Disney Notebook Supplies\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Directions for a Do-It-Yourself\u00a0Disney Notebook<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3>Cut Paper<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Measure the notebook.<\/li>\n<li>Cut the 2 sheets of Disney-themed paper both 1\u201d larger than the notebook (height) by the width of the notebook for the front and back covers. (Example: If the notebook is 9.75\u201d high x 7.5\u201d wide, the paper\u2019s cut size will be 10.75\u201d high x 7.5\u201d wide.)<\/li>\n<li>Trim 2 sheets of the coordinating plain paper 0.5\u201d smaller (height and width) than the notebook for the inside front and inside back covers. (Using the example in Step #2, the paper\u2019s cut size will be 9.25\u201d high x 7\u201d wide). Optional: Cut a small angle at the top and bottom corner on one side of each sheet (see photo below).<\/li>\n<li>Next, cut the remaining sheet of coordinating plain paper sheet approximately 3\u201d wide by the height of the notebook for the spine cover. (Using the example in Step #2, the size of the spine cover will be 9.75\u201d high x 3\u201d wide).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-75963\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DIY_Notebook_CutPaper.jpg\" alt=\"Notebook Cut Paper\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Fold Paper<\/h3>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Fold one sheet of the Disney-themed paper around the top, bottom, and right sides of the front cover of the notebook (approximately .5\u201d on each of the three sides). Note: There is no fold on the left side of the paper.<\/li>\n<li>Next, fold the remaining sheet of Disney-themed paper around the top, bottom, and left sides of the back cover of the notebook (approximately .5\u201d on each of the three sides). Note: There is no fold on the right side of the paper.<\/li>\n<li>Attach\/glue the Disney-themed paper to the front and back covers.<\/li>\n<li>TIPS: a) It may be helpful to lightly score the paper using a scoring tool or blunt object that will not tear the paper to keep the fold straight. b) To make nice folds around the corners, first fold the corner of the paper toward the notebook corner, then fold the straight edges around the corner (see photo below).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-75967 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DIY_Notebook_Prefold2.jpg\" alt=\"Prefold Example\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-75966 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DIY_Notebook_Prefold1.jpg\" alt=\"Notebook Fold Examples\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-75962 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DIY_Notebook_Corner.jpg\" alt=\"Folded Corner Example\" width=\"400\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DIY_Notebook_Corner.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DIY_Notebook_Corner-300x400.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Add Bookmark and Cover Spine<\/h3>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li>Cut 2 pieces of ribbon at least 1\u201d longer than the height of the notebook. (Using the example in Step #2, cut two (2) 12\u201d pieces of ribbon. Note: \u00a0The notebook&#8217;s bookmark uses the remaining ribbon, approximately 17\u201d-18\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>For the bookmark, attach approximately 1\u201d of the ribbon to the back cover. Indent the ribbon placement about 1\u201d from the top right side (see photo below). Bring the ribbon around the top of the notebook and insert it into the inside left of the notebook as if marking a place in the notebook. Note: The spine cover hides the ribbon when attached in Step #11.<\/li>\n<li>Fold the spine cover around the spine of the notebook and attach it in place with the adhesive, tape, or glue stick.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-75961 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DIY_Notebook_Bookmark.jpg\" alt=\"Notebook Bookmark Placement\" width=\"400\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DIY_Notebook_Bookmark.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DIY_Notebook_Bookmark-300x400.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-75969 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DIY_Notebook_Spine.jpg\" alt=\"Cover Spine\" width=\"400\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DIY_Notebook_Spine.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DIY_Notebook_Spine-300x400.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Attach Ribbon, Inside Covers, and Bookmark Accessory<\/h3>\n<ol start=\"12\">\n<li>Attach 1 of the 2 remaining ribbon pieces to the border of the spine cover on the front of the notebook. Wrap about 1\u201d of the ribbon around the top and bottom of the notebook cover.<\/li>\n<li>Repeat Step #12 to attach the remaining ribbon on the back cover bordering the spine cover. Note: The ribbon attached to the inside of each cover will be hidden by the inside covers that are applied in Step #14.<\/li>\n<li>Next, attach one of the coordinating plain paper sheets to the inside front cover and the other to the inside back cover.
