Are you planning a trip to Alaska on Disney Cruise Line<\/a>? You\u2019re in for the time of your life! I just got back from my cruise to Alaska on the Disney Wonder<\/a> in May, and here are five things you must do on your Alaskan cruise<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On a seven-night cruise to Alaska, there are three days at sea (on one of which you\u2019ll sail through a fjord for an up-close glacier viewing). While at sea, you\u2019ll be traveling through Alaska\u2019s Inside Passage, a narrow waterway through Alaskan wilderness. There are amazing views on all sides of the ship, so whether you want to take in the breathtaking scenery from your veranda or on other decks throughout the ship, you won\u2019t want to miss it! Also, keep your eyes peeled and have your binoculars close by\u2026 you may just see some native Alaskan wildlife! We spotted bald eagles and a pod of whales!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In lieu of the \u201cPirate Party\u201d that takes place on most Disney Cruise Line Caribbean and Bahamian sailings (fireworks are prohibited in Alaska due to environmental concerns), the Alaskan sailings offer the \u201cFreezing the Night Away\u201d deck party, featuring Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf from Frozen<\/em>. Sing and dance with your favorite characters and Cast Members and keep an eye out for some \u2018wintry magic\u2019 conjured by Elsa! This unique deck party is fun for the whole family.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On Alaskan sailings, \u201cRegional Inspirations\u201d, such as salmon and venison, are incorporated into the dinner menus in the main dining halls. Spend your evenings enjoying your favorite Disney Cruise Line menu offerings as well as trying foods native to the area. \u00a0This special touch helps bring the local Alaskan flavors right to your table. Plus, fresh Alaskan salmon is pretty hard to beat!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On seven-night Alaskan sailings, the Disney Wonder stops in the port towns of Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan. Disney Cruise Line offers a multitude of port adventures such as zip lining through the Tongass National Forest, guided scenic hikes, horseback riding, float-plane rides through the Misty Fjords, train rides on the White Pass Railway, dog sledding at a working mushers\u2019 camp, and so much more. There are countless options for every family, and you are sure to find something that excites you. Also, make sure to spend some time exploring each port town on your own. There are wonderful, eclectic shops, breweries, and restaurants to enjoy, so take your time and experience all that these unique ports have to offer.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On Alaskan sailings, Disney Cruise Line invites a local naturalist to host educational seminars on the different Alaskan ports of call. While there are many great activities offered on board, attending a naturalist seminar offers a lesson in the local history, wildlife, and general information on the area. These seminars broaden your knowledge and help provide interesting context to the ports you will be visiting in the days to come. The naturalist will also stick around after the presentation to answer any questions you have. He or she will also provide narration on the pool deck during the Glacier Day.
