On Saturday June 22nd I attended a Coasting for Kids<\/a> event at Six Flags Over Texas. Coasting for Kids is being held at amusement parks all over the nation through September 1st. These events benefit Give Kids the World Village<\/a> while giving participants special access to certain ride(s) at each park.<\/p>\n

Even the CEO and President of GKTW, Pamela Landwirth, enjoys the rides!<\/em><\/p>\n

Give Kids the World Village<\/a> is an 84-acre resort in Central Florida that fulfills wishes for critically ill children and their families. It is a magical village of ice cream for breakfast, rides that everyone in the family can enjoy and no one is treated like they are different.<\/p>\n

I arrived at Six Flags over Texas at 8:00 a.m. Give Kids the World had provided a parking pass and Six Flags reserved a front section of the lot just for Coasting for Kids participants.<\/p>\n

\"Arriving<\/p>\n

Give Kids the World representatives and Six Flags staff checked me in, giving me a ticket for the day and a Coasting for Kids t-shirt. I also received a Coasting for Kids backpack, water bottle and hat for fundraising over $500 for Give Kids the World Village.<\/p>\n

The hats were perfect for a hot sunny day in Texas<\/em><\/p>\n

We were encouraged to head inside for some ride time on the Titan and Texas Giant before the park opened. Unfortunately, Texas Giant did not open during this time as they were having ride delays, but being the first guests in the park and getting on Titan was pretty neat.<\/p>\n

At 10:00 a.m., a presentation and awards ceremony started.<\/p>\n

Over 50 participants at Six Flags over Texas!<\/em><\/p>\n

Then Coasting for Kids participants were encouraged to head over to Six Flags over Texas\u2019 newest ride, El Diablo. I’m not great on upside down rides, so my friends and I decided to go enjoy the rest of the park.<\/p>\n

I had not been to Six Flags over Texas since I was a teenager, so it was fun to walk around the park again. A lot of the park is the same, but a lot of thrill rides have been added.<\/p>\n

Classic ride that I used to ride over and over again in middle and high school<\/em><\/p>\n

Coasting for Kids was a great experience. I was able to fund-raise for my favorite charity and experience Six Flags over Texas again.<\/p>\n
