Our first Walt Disney World trip together<\/em><\/p>\n

It was May 1993. I had just graduated college, and what did I ask my parents for? A trip to Walt Disney World<\/a>! My then-boyfriend now-husband and I had already been camping together, so we thought it would be fun to camp out at Fort Wilderness<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

My sister introduced me to all her College Program friends<\/em><\/p>\n

This trip would end with us driving my sister, who was in the College Program, back home. Since we decided to pitch a tent and cook many of our meals at the campsite, and my sister was getting us into the park as her guests on a few days, This would turn out to be one of our least expensive Walt Disney World trips ever!<\/p>\n

Fort Wilderness was beautiful. I\u2019d never seen so much wildlife at a camping site before. I think I am officially too old to be sleeping on the ground and then traipse through theme parks for 6 days, but we were in our twenties and full of energy, and we had a great time.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Meeting friends at the Disney-MGM Studios<\/em><\/p>\n

My husband had never been to the Disney-MGM Studios<\/a>, so we spent a lot of time there. Aladdin had just come out, so the characters were scattered throughout the park. Aladdin\u2019s Royal Caravan was the parade that ran, and the Soundstage Restaurant had been renamed Aladdin\u2019s. We enjoyed lunch there. I had a delicious chicken salad with pineapple and peanuts.<\/p>\n

One evening, we had an experience I will never forget. All of the College Program participants and their guests were invited to Goofy\u2019s Studio Mystery. The park was closed down for the evening, and College Program participants were bungee tied to their guests and given a scavenger hunt and trivia contest to complete in the park. (No, we did not even come close to winning.)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Greetings from Epcot!<\/em><\/p>\n

At Epcot<\/a>, we not only enjoyed visiting Future World and World Showcase, but we got to meet many of my sister\u2019s friends from all over the world. One evening, her roommate from the United Kingdom cooked us all a proper English dinner.<\/p>\n

Enjoying a home cooked British dinner in my sister’s apartment<\/em><\/p>\n

We got to hang out with my sister and her friends in the Magic Kingdom right after they cashed their checks for the week. There was something very fun and unique about going to a place I\u2019d been going to since I was a little girl, but this time, with enthusiastic, fun people who actually worked there.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad<\/em><\/p>\n

My friend Cindy and her fianc\u00e9 (now husband) Mike had booked their honeymoon at Port Orleans Resort (now known as Port Orleans French Quarter) so we visited it to check it out. We liked the atmosphere so much that we wound up staying here with our family six years later.<\/p>\n

\"Throwback<\/p>\n

If you enjoy tent camping, I highly suggest you look into camping at Fort Wilderness. I have never seen a cleaner, better maintained campground. The rest stations were immaculate, you could watch the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach, and it is just a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom!<\/p>\n
