{"id":53225,"date":"2017-05-18T08:00:02","date_gmt":"2017-05-18T12:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/?p=53225"},"modified":"2022-04-09T01:04:56","modified_gmt":"2022-04-09T05:04:56","slug":"disney-character-signature-christmas-ornaments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/disney-character-signature-christmas-ornaments\/","title":{"rendered":"Disney Character Signature Christmas Ornaments &#8211; An Alternative to the Autograph Book"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-53345 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Disney-Signature-Ornaments-400x316.jpg\" alt=\"Disney Character Signature Christmas Ornaments - Alternative to the signature photo book\" width=\"400\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Disney-Signature-Ornaments-400x316.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Disney-Signature-Ornaments.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As frequent visitors to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/\">Walt Disney World<\/a>, our family has been through multiple versions of the typical autograph books.\u00a0 If your family is like mine, these are great fun during the trip, but end up gathering dust on a shelf at home.<\/p>\n<p>For our trip the first week of January of 2017 our family was still in Christmas mode. \u00a0We decided to create Disney character signature Christmas Ornaments as an alternative to our old signature books. \u00a0The parks were still decorated beautifully, and better yet all Christmas ornaments were on after Christmas sale.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to our vacation, I ordered simple flat wooden Christmas ornaments.\u00a0 I debated over using other ornaments like balls, but we ended up deciding for convenience of park touring we wanted something flat that could go easily into a pocket (mainly because my husband hates to go through the bag check lines).\u00a0 We also decided this would be easier for the characters to sign.<\/p>\n<p>Materials needed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Acrylic craft paint<\/li>\n<li>Ornaments<\/li>\n<li>Sponge type paint brush<\/li>\n<li>Some type of material to protect your work service (we used a trashbag)<\/li>\n<li>Sharpie pen (Make sure and test that your Sharpie color will show up on the items you painted. We had two different colors).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The entire project cost us around $25.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-53346\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/painting-1024x768-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"Painting Disney ornaments\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/painting-1024x768-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/painting-1024x768.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Completing our project at home<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This painting project was easy enough for my 5 year old and 8 year old to do fairly independently (with occasional touch ups by me).\u00a0 We painted one side, waited until it dried, and then painted the back.\u00a0 We painted the different shaped ornaments different colors.\u00a0 We decided to not add any details, but to let the character\u2019s signatures be the focal point.<\/p>\n<p>Once at Disney, we loaded up on blank ornaments every day before park touring (make sure you have enough as you never know who you\u2019ll meet).\u00a0 Don\u2019t forget to bring your Sharpie so the characters have something to sign with.\u00a0 If you are at a character meal or while waiting in line, go ahead and get your items out to sign in order to help the experience move smoothly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-53347\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/moana-1024x683-400x267.jpg\" alt=\"Moana signature\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/moana-1024x683-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/moana-1024x683-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/moana-1024x683.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Meeting Moana<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Having these special items to sign made our character meet and greets tons of fun.\u00a0 It gave the kids a reason to try to get as many different character\u2019s signatures as possible.\u00a0 We ended up getting 26 character signatures over the course of our trip.\u00a0 The kids had some unique interactions with the characters which made for some of those wonderful extra-special Disney moments.\u00a0 Moana talked about how she used the stars to sail while she signed a star and Elsa went out of the way to decorate parts of the snowflake she signed.<\/p>\n<p>Character meals can be a easy way to meet lots of characters. \u00a0Less time standing in line for autographs and more time eating is a win-win in my book. \u00a0A few of our favorites from this trip included the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/dining\/menus\/garden-grill-menu\/\">Garden Grill\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/dining\/menus\/1900-park-fare-menu\/\">1900 Park Fare<\/a>. \u00a0We racked up lots of signatures on our ornaments at these character meals!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-53365\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/1900-Park-Fare-768x1024-300x400.jpg\" alt=\"Disney Christmas Ornaments\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/1900-Park-Fare-768x1024-300x400.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/1900-Park-Fare-768x1024.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>1900 Park Fare with Cinderella&#8217;s &#8220;evil&#8221; We loved how our Disney character signature Christmas ornaments project turned out.<\/p>\n<p>When thinking about doing something similar for your family, think of any items or activities your family would enjoy having signed.\u00a0 Some ideas include using plates, pillowcases, storybooks, picture frames, and shirts.\u00a0 The characters will sign pretty much anything (other than things you are currently wearing, or your skin) so use your imagination.<\/p>\n<p><em>Have you had characters sign unique items?
