Have you ever been to Walt Disney World on Christmas Day? Last year, I was!<\/p>\n
My brother moved to Orlando a few years ago and so last year, my parents decided that instead of having us all come home for Christmas, we would spend the holidays in the land of theme parks, which was just fine by me! So, we packed up the car with presents and trekked down to the Sunshine State for the Christmas holiday.<\/p>\n
Granted, we knew we didn’t want to go to into the parks on Christmas Day. What with how crazy busy they would be, but we wanted to still have a little bit of Disney magic tossed into our holiday. Knowing full well we’d need to go somewhere for Christmas dinner<\/a>, I made a reservation for Trail’s End<\/a>. I figured that this home-spun restaurant at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort<\/a> would be a great choice for an old fashioned Christmas experience.\u00a0 Let me tell you…I was right!<\/p>\n Trail’s End offers a rustic environment with done home cooking. They specialize in country kitchen fixins’, which sounded perfect to my ears and my stomach.<\/p>\n Many items on the Christmas Day buffet were standard for the restaurant, such as fried chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, salad, peel and eat shrimp, and more. But there were a few things that were unique, such as a carving station that offered up ham, as well as traditional holiday sides, like candied yams and cornbread stuffing.<\/p>\n Shrimp and Salad<\/em><\/p>\n Stuffing and macaroni and cheese<\/em><\/p>\n Yams and Pasta<\/em><\/p>\n Mashed Potatoes and Carrots and Green Beans<\/em><\/p>\n Fried Chicken<\/em><\/p>\n Carving Station<\/em><\/p>\n One thing you cannot miss at Trail’s End is the cornbread. Is is buttery, moist, and so yummy! You’ll find the cornbread on the dessert table, so don’t skip it with your meal!<\/p>\n Cornbread<\/em><\/p>\n Of course, speaking of dessert, you cannot forget dessert. And oh how incredible it is! There are options like chocolate chip cookies, eggnog squares, pumpkin pie, rich chocolate brownies, and red velvet cake.<\/p>\n Brownies<\/em><\/p>\n Eggnog Squares<\/em><\/p>\n Pumpkin Pie<\/em><\/p>\n Chocolate Chip Cookies<\/em><\/p>\n Oh and you cannot forget about the ice cream bar, plus all the toppings you can pile on your sundae!<\/p>\n Honestly, the meal was pretty darn close to what I would have eaten at home on Christmas Day. Everything I ate was delicious and since my whole family was dining here, the only thing that was different was the setting. If you are looking for an option of somewhere to eat on Christmas Day, I really suggest giving Trail’s End a shot. To me, it was absolutely worth it!<\/p>\n (A couple of notes: One – there is a special price for Christmas Day dinner that was not advertised anywhere prior to enjoying the meal. It wasn’t much of a surcharge, but to dine there on Christmas Day, it cost $29.99 per adult and $16.99 per child ages 3-9, plus tax. In addition, there is absolutely no discounts that are accepted on Christmas Day. I am an Annual Passholder and a Disney Visa Cardholder, both of which have afforded me discounts before when dining at Trail’s End, but neither were accepted on the holiday.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Have you ever been to Walt Disney World on Christmas Day?
