{"id":49605,"date":"2016-10-12T12:00:15","date_gmt":"2016-10-12T16:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/?p=49605"},"modified":"2022-05-04T20:06:19","modified_gmt":"2022-05-05T00:06:19","slug":"how-i-did-riding-all-5-rides-in-disneys-hollywood-studios-in-one-morning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/how-i-did-riding-all-5-rides-in-disneys-hollywood-studios-in-one-morning\/","title":{"rendered":"How I Did: Riding all 5 Rides in Disney&#8217;s Hollywood Studios in One Morning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/2016\/07\/riding-all-5-rides-in-hollywood-studios-in-one-morning\/\">previous post<\/a>, I made a plan to tour\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/parks\/disneys-hollywood-studios\/\" rel=\"dofollow\">Disney\u2019s Hollywood Studios<\/a>\u00a0and ride all five of its rides in one morning using park open (&#8220;rope drop&#8221;) and FastPass+ strategies. \u00a0I put this plan to the test on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. \u00a0This post goes through my plan and my success at completing the steps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/DHS_Trip_Report.jpg\" alt=\"dhs_trip_report\" width=\"550\" height=\"443\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/DHS_Trip_Report.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/DHS_Trip_Report-400x322.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pre-Trip\u00a0Preparation<br \/>\n<\/strong>I was able to obtain\u00a0the following\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/parks\/fast-pass\/\" rel=\"dofollow\">FastPass+<\/a>\u00a0reservations at Hollywood Studios\u00a060 days in advance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>9:05-10:05: \u00a0Twilight Zone Tower of Terror<\/li>\n<li>10:20-11:20: \u00a0Toy Story Midway Mania!<\/li>\n<li>11:25-12:25: \u00a0Star Tours\u2013The Adventures Continue<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Rope Drop<br \/>\n<\/strong>We arrived at the Hollywood Studios Mickey ticket readers at 8:20 a.m. and got in a relatively short line. \u00a0We were let onto Hollywood Boulevard\u00a0at 8:40 a.m., then held there until the official park open at 9:00 a.m. \u00a0We headed to the right onto Sunset Boulevard, then veered\u00a0left\u00a0to Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roller Coaster.\u00a0Our 9-year-old did not want to ride, so we asked the first Cast Member we saw in the line for a rider switch pass, which they quickly retrieved and gave to my wife. \u00a0My son and I had about a 15-minute wait before our car sped off at 60 miles per hour! \u00a0When we exited, my wife and son headed into the FastPass entrance with their rider switch pass and were exiting the ride about 20 minutes later.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rider Switch at Tower of Terror<br \/>\n<\/strong>We arrived at Twilight Zone Tower of Terror around 9:35 a.m. and headed to the FastPass entrance. \u00a0My daughter was too scared to go on this ride\u00a0as well, so we asked the first Cast Member about rider switch. \u00a0She told us to go through the queue and another cast member would help us out near the ride entrance. \u00a0At the second FastPass reader, the Cast Member there told us that we would go through the rest of the pre-show and\u00a0switch at the ride entrance. \u00a0So the whole family got to experience the library pre-show and boiler room (all the while my daughter was sobbing because she thought she would be forced to ride!). \u00a0Once we got to the front of our elevator, a Cast Member took my wife and daughter to a service elevator (one <em>without<\/em> the drops!)\u00a0where they were taken to the ride exit area to wait for my son and me. \u00a0Upon exiting, my son and wife were taken back into that service elevator directly to the ride entrance, bypassing the pre-show. \u00a0The experience with rider switch set us back in time more than we had planned for, but I was ultimately impressed with how easy they make rider switch at Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49610\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Tower_Of_Terror.jpg\" alt=\"tower_of_terror\" width=\"550\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Tower_Of_Terror.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Tower_Of_Terror-400x265.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Tower_Of_Terror-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Down the elevator shaft we go!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Before continuing on our rides, my son and I went to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/2016\/08\/star-wars-launch-bay\/\">Star Wars Launch Bay<\/a> to meet Chewbacca and trade with the Jawas. \u00a0Both experiences were absolutely great, especially the trading. \u00a0These Jawas are no pushovers; my son traded some light-up sunglasses for an old toy car. \u00a0Don&#8217;t try to give them junk; I saw some kids rejected for trying to trade things of little value. \u00a0During this time, my wife and daughter went to each of the three Disney Junior character meetings and enjoyed short lines for each (Sofia the First, Jake, and Doc McStuffins).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49609\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Jawa_Trading.jpg\" alt=\"jawa_trading\" width=\"550\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Jawa_Trading.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Jawa_Trading-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Trading with the Jawas in Star Wars Launch Bay<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Our Toy Story Midway Mania!
