My next Walt Disney World will be my first solo trip.\u00a0 Our family dynamics have changed because our young adults are now in college and have jobs.\u00a0 With their school and work schedules, they cannot take time off to travel.\u00a0 Rather than forgoing my beloved Disney vacation because of this stage of family life, I will travel solo!<\/p>\n
The idea of solo travel delights me, and to be honest, it kind of scares me too.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to a familiar place that feels like home, but I\u2019ve always had the company of loved ones while there.\u00a0 I feel a little like Rapunzel in Tangled.\u00a0 It\u2019s the \u201cBest Day Ever!\u201d followed by \u201cWill I be OK?\u201d\u00a0 This is DISNEY we\u2019re talking about, so I\u2019m betting on the \u201cBest Day Ever!\u201d happening!<\/p>\n
It has been exciting to plan my first solo trip!\u00a0 I\u2019ve always had to take into account everyone\u2019s interests, and for the last handful of years I asked the kids to pick our dining locations.\u00a0 For this trip, it\u2019s just me planning for myself and I had a blank slate in which to draw up my own adventure!\u00a0 The planning for a Disney vacation is half of the fun, and as a solo traveler, I\u2019ve had several factors to consider.<\/p>\n
Resort Choice<\/strong><\/p>\n I don\u2019t need a lot of space, and for just me a double bed is fine.\u00a0 I decided to stay at the All Star Sports Resort<\/a>, a resort we have enjoyed as a budget-friendly choice on our pre-cruise trip.\u00a0 I did \u2018splurge\u2019 for a preferred room location because we liked the Surf\u2019s Up location last year, and that\u2019ll be a nice spot to stay again.\u00a0 My room will be clean and more than adequate, and I am happy at any pool as long as I can secure a lounge chair, a spot in the shade, a cold beverage, and a book in hand.\u00a0 It\u2019s all good at All Star Sports!<\/p>\n Ticket Choice<\/strong><\/p>\n Long ago, we gave park hoppers a try.\u00a0 We discovered that one park per day, when mixed in with resort time and Disney Springs, was plenty for us so we haven\u2019t had the park hopper option for years.\u00a0 For my solo trip, I bought a park hopper<\/a>!\u00a0 I can decide on the fly if I want to hop to another park just because, and for a solo traveler that\u2019s fun!<\/p>\n Dining Choices<\/strong><\/p>\n I\u2019ve been letting the kids pick our restaurants with one rule, that we try a new-to-us place each time.\u00a0 For my solo trip, I am picking my own restaurants!\u00a0 Half of my reservations are at new-to-me places, and I may even try a walk-up for lunch at Tiffins<\/a> on arrival day\u2026..Because, why not?!\u00a0 I can eat where I like, when I like.<\/p>\n Will it be weird to eat by myself?\u00a0 I don\u2019t think so.\u00a0 I\u2019ll enjoy the food and atmosphere at the restaurants, and will pack my Kindle if I want to relax and take a dip into a book.<\/p>\n Attractions<\/strong><\/p>\n I can bypass thrill rides because I don\u2019t do them, and I can do my favorite attractions multiple times if I wish to do so! \u00a0Can I ride the Haunted Mansion <\/a>three times in a row?\u00a0 Why not?!<\/p>\n
