Know Before You Go<\/strong><\/h4>\n

On the Fourth of July<\/a>, the parks, especially the Magic Kingdom, often fill to capacity early in the day. If your heart is set on celebrating Independence Day inside a Walt Disney World theme park, pick your park, arrive early, and be prepared to stay there throughout the day.<\/p>\n

\"Fourth<\/p>\n

Remember, it is going to be hot. Experience indoor attractions such as Carousel of Progress<\/em> and Mickey\u2019s PhilharMagic <\/em>at the Magic Kingdom; Spaceship Earth<\/em> and The American Adventure <\/em>at Epcot; Star Wars Launch Bay<\/em> and Muppet Vision 3D<\/em> at Disney\u2019s Hollywood Studios; or Finding Nemo\u2013The Musical<\/em> and the Festival of the Lion King<\/em> at the Animal Kingdom on a regular basis to cool down. Stay hydrated and slap on the sunscreen. Bring everything you need to the park, and spring for a locker because you don\u2019t want to carry around a heavy backpack in what is going to be at least 90\u00baF. Last but not least, try to secure a reservation in a table-service restaurant.<\/p>\n

Where to Celebrate the Fourth of July at Walt Disney World<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Magic Kingdom and Epcot are my favorite parks when it comes to celebrating our nation\u2019s birth. You\u2019ll want to visit the Magic Kingdom for festivities on July 3rd<\/sup> and experience Epcot on July 4th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

There are no special Fourth of July celebrations at the Animal Kingdom or Disney\u2019s Hollywood Studios. Note that The Studios\u2019 Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular<\/em> fireworks will take place at 9:30 p.m. on July 3rd<\/sup> and July 4th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

\"StarWars<\/p>\n

The Magic Kingdom celebrates Independence Day on July 3rd<\/sup> and July 4th<\/sup> but will most certainly be more crowded on the Fourth of July.<\/p>\n

On July 3rd the Magic Kingdom is open from 8 a.m. until 1 a.m. with additional Extra Magic Hours for Disney resort guests until 3 a.m.\u00a0On July 4th the Magic Kingdom is open from 8 a.m. until 1 a.m.<\/p>\n

Patriotic Moments at the Magic Kingdom<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Be sure to see the 8-foot-tall Liberty Bell replica that anchors Liberty Square, where a majestic 100-year-old oak (with a younger oak grafted into the base) stands tall. Take pictures next to the Liberty Bell, which was cast for Walt Disney World in 1989.<\/p>\n

\"Fourth<\/p>\n

Give your feet a break and take the Liberty Belle <\/em>for a ride on Rivers of America. The three-tiered Liberty Belle<\/em> riverboat is a reproduction of the type of historic vessels that once ferried people up and down the mighty Mississippi.<\/p>\n

An absolute must is The Hall of Presidents<\/em> show featuring 43 U.S. Presidents. Morgan Freeman narrates the patriotic audio-animatronics show. The air-conditioned theater holds more than 700 people, and the show runs continuously throughout the day.<\/p>\n

\"Fourth<\/p>\n

Liberty Tree Tavern<\/a><\/strong>, a colonial-style inn, serves traditional New England-inspired fare for lunch and dinner daily. For a quick-service meal, we recommend New England clam chowder and lobster rolls at Columbia Harbor House<\/a>.<\/strong> Both restaurants are located at Liberty Square.<\/p>\n

The Carousel of Progress<\/em><\/a>\u00a0showcases the progress of the American family and includes a Fourth of July scene. The Carousel of Progress<\/em> handles big crowds effectively and is a good choice during busier times of day.<\/p>\n

\"Fourth<\/p>\n

Pledge allegiance to the flag and enjoy the patriotic performance of the Main Street Philharmonic<\/em> during the daily 5 p.m. Flag Retreat<\/em> on Town Square (Main Street U.S.A.). The band performs the \u201cStar Spangled Banner\u201d\u00a0as members of the Color Guard lower the flag.<\/p>\n
