So, as I was planning for our time in the World over marathon week an interesting dining idea popped into my head which I called the \u201c3 Course Monorail Meal\u201d. This would be a progressive dinner type meal featuring an appetizer, a main course and a dessert with one course at each of the monorail resorts (The Grand Floridian, The Polynesian, and The Contemporary). \u00a0The only condition that I set was that each course must be from a non-table service restaurant for the sake of time. The challengers were myself, my wife, our 6 week old son, and my parents.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Course #1 &#8211; The Appetizer<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We were staying at The Polynesian and decided to make our first stop at the Grand Floridian for our appetizer.\u00a0 Upon arriving at the resort we had the good fortune of getting to hear the &#8220;Grand Floridian Society Orchestra&#8221; who plays live in the lobby balcony every evening.\u00a0 We actually did a bit of ballroom dancing up on the balcony lobby and really enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere.\u00a0 I would recommend that everyone take a chance to hear them play if you haven&#8217;t already.\u00a0 They are phenomenal.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a little taste&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Disney Grand Floridian Society Orchestra jazz band playing the hotel lobby\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vKqJuXH6mwE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We then headed out the back doors toward the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/dining\/menus\/gasparilla-grill-menu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gasparilla Island Grill<\/a> which proved to be a little to tricky to find if it&#8217;s your first time there, but after asking a cast member we found it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Gasperilla-Island-Grill-Exterior.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-44609 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Gasperilla-Island-Grill-Exterior.jpg\" alt=\"Gasperilla Island Grill Exterior\" width=\"412\" height=\"309\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Gasperilla-Island-Grill-Exterior.jpg 412w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Gasperilla-Island-Grill-Exterior-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 412px) 100vw, 412px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The un-assuming entrance of The Gasparilla Island Grill<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I was super excited for this first course because I had heard about their crazy hot dogs and I was not disappointed (they feature a different hot dog every day of the week).\u00a0 My wife and I shared an &#8220;Idaho Dog&#8221; which was a large all beef hot dog with a baked potato for the bun.\u00a0 It was topped with sour cream, bacon, cheddar cheese, and chives.\u00a0 Wow&#8230;goodbye bread, hello baked potato&#8230;this was an awesome combination.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/The-Idaho-Dog.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-44620\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/The-Idaho-Dog.jpg\" alt=\"The Idaho Dog\" width=\"321\" height=\"203\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The Idaho Dog<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Half of the dog was plenty for an appetizer because it was really filling.\u00a0 My dad also had an Idaho Dog and my mom had the &#8220;Stuffed Ciabatta Margherita Pizza&#8221; which literally melted in your mouth.\u00a0 It was a small loaf of ciabatta stuffed with gooey mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and basil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Stuffed-Ciabatta-Pizza.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-44621\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Stuffed-Ciabatta-Pizza-400x369.jpg\" alt=\"Stuffed Ciabatta Pizza\" width=\"400\" height=\"369\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Stuffed-Ciabatta-Pizza-400x369.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Stuffed-Ciabatta-Pizza-140x130.jpg 140w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Stuffed-Ciabatta-Pizza.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The Stuffed Ciabatta Margherita Pizza<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">At the time we ordered it was a brand new item that wasn&#8217;t even on the menu yet&#8230;hopefully they keep it.\u00a0 One quick tip about the appetizer course&#8230;the quick service restaurants really are not set up to offer traditional type appetizers so sharing something is probably your best bet.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Course #2 &#8211; The Main Course<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Next it was back to the monorail and on to The Contemporary Resort for our main course at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/dining\/menus\/contempo-cafe-menu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Contempo Cafe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Contempo-Cafe-Sign.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-44611\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Contempo-Cafe-Sign-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"Contempo Cafe Sign\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Contempo-Cafe-Sign-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Contempo-Cafe-Sign.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">My wife and I shared the chicken alfredo which was pretty good and I appreciated the opportunity to choose whole wheat pasta as an option.\u00a0 The best part of our main course by far was the parmesan crusted bread stick that came with it.\u00a0 If anyone is going to attempt this and you are at the Contempo for your appetizer see if they will do a basket of those with some marinara sauce for you, because it was arguably the best breadstick I&#8217;ve ever eaten.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Alfredo-Contempo-Cafe-Small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-44623\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Alfredo-Contempo-Cafe-Small-400x362.jpg\" alt=\"Alfredo - Contempo Cafe (Small)\" width=\"400\" height=\"362\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Alfredo-Contempo-Cafe-Small-400x362.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Alfredo-Contempo-Cafe-Small.jpg 530w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">My dad got the pasta with meatballs (which he could not finish because he already ate an entire Idaho Dog).\u00a0 I tried part of a meatball and it was pretty good.\u00a0 My mom had the Steakhouse Salad which was lettuce with Marinated Beef, Red Onions, Goat Cheese, Tomatoes, and Mustard Vinaigrette with a warm Pita Wedge.\u00a0 The beef was cooked really nicely and the dressing was delicious.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Steakhouse-Salad-Contempo-Cafe-Small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-44624\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Steakhouse-Salad-Contempo-Cafe-Small-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"Steakhouse Salad - Contempo Cafe (Small)\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Steakhouse-Salad-Contempo-Cafe-Small-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Steakhouse-Salad-Contempo-Cafe-Small.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The Steakhouse Salad<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After dinner the ladies did a bit of shopping while my dad and I played a couple games of pinball in the arcade.\u00a0 As a brief aside, I love the fact that every Disney arcade has pinball machines.\u00a0 Pinball is just awesome!<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Course #3 &#8211; Dessert<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Lastly, it was back to The Polynesian for dessert.\u00a0 When we arrived at Captain Cooks we were disappointed to see that most of the desserts were already gone (it was close to 9:00pm by that point).\u00a0 But&#8230;thankfully the Polynesian had one of the best fall back options in history&#8230;the on sight Dole Whip stand called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/dining\/menus\/pineapple-lanai-menu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pineapple Lanai<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Dole-Whip-Stand-The-Polynesian.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-44625\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Dole-Whip-Stand-The-Polynesian-400x299.jpg\" alt=\"Dole Whip Stand - The Polynesian\" width=\"400\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Dole-Whip-Stand-The-Polynesian-400x299.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Dole-Whip-Stand-The-Polynesian.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">There was no sharing this time and each of us enjoyed our own delicious frozen pineapple dream in a cup while catching the end of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.\u00a0 It was a pretty great way to end our adventure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Dole-Whip-3-Course-Monorail-Meal-Small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-44626\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Dole-Whip-3-Course-Monorail-Meal-Small-289x400.jpg\" alt=\"Dole Whip - 3 Course Monorail Meal (Small)\" width=\"289\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Dole-Whip-3-Course-Monorail-Meal-Small-289x400.jpg 289w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Dole-Whip-3-Course-Monorail-Meal-Small.jpg 347w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 289px) 100vw, 289px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>You can&#8217;t beat a night that ends with Dole Whip<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Overall, I could not recommend a &#8220;3 Course Monorail Meal&#8221; more.\u00a0 We took our time (probably about 2-2.5 hours) and enjoyed each resort thoroughly.\u00a0 And&#8230;the great part about this is that there are six different possible options depending on what order you do each resort.\u00a0 That means 5 more dining adventures await my family on vacations to come.\u00a0 Hopefully this inspires you to take on this challenge on a future trip to the world.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s to you enjoying your very own Disney 3 Course Monorail Meal!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Have you ever done a 3 Course Monorail meal?
