Port Orleans French Quarter <\/a>is one of our favorite Walt Disney World resorts.\u00a0 The New Orleans atmosphere, compact size, and nice amenities make this resort a great place to stay for adults or for families with kids of all ages.\u00a0 The resort is a small one, so regardless of which building you are in it\u2019s a relatively short walk to the rest of the resort and the bus stops.<\/p>\n

Resort Rooms<\/strong><\/p>\n

The guest rooms are approximately 314 square feet, and we were comfortable here as a family of four.\u00a0 We\u2019ve stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter three times, and each time we\u2019ve found the queen mattresses to be firm to our liking and the pillows to be comfortable.\u00a0 The rooms are tastefully decorated, and have the standard tables with two chairs, a dresser (three drawers), a flat screen TV, small refrigerator, and a privacy curtain that separates the bed area from the double sink area.<\/p>\n

The storage area to the side of the sinks is large enough to stash suitcases, hang clothes, and store snacks.\u00a0 Our favorite tip is to bring a shoe holder from home to hang here.\u00a0 Inside, we keep items such as medications, deodorants, etc. and that keeps the sink area clutter-free.<\/p>\n

Transportation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Port Orleans French Quarter offers bus transportation to all of the parks and boat transportation to Port Orleans Riverside and Downtown Disney via the Sassagoula River.\u00a0 The boat ride is relaxing, and for us it\u2019s a must do!<\/p>\n

New Orleans Square<\/strong><\/p>\n

New Orleans Square is the main building that houses the check-in area with concierge desk, Jackson\u2019s Square Gift Shop, the arcade, Scat Cat\u2019s Club, and the Sassagoula Floatworks & \u00a0Food Factory.\u00a0 I wrote a previous article on the Sassagoula Float Works and Food Factory<\/a>, so all I will skip the details here other than to say to savor the beignets!<\/p>\n

Our family enjoys the jolly greeter at the resort entrance and the New Orleans influence throughout the building.<\/p>\n

A musician performed at Scat Cat\u2019s (pictured below) on select nights, though Disney is currently in the process of changing the live entertainment.\u00a0 Scat Cat\u2019s is still a relaxing place to unwind after a day in the parks, or you can hop on a boat and sail over to Port Orleans Riverside to see Yehaa Bob\u2019s show<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Recreation<\/strong><\/p>\n

The resort guide<\/a> lists all of the activities happening at the resorts. \u00a0We have enjoyed pool games, a campfire on the Bayou, and the free nightly movies at Port Orleans French Quarter.\u00a0 There is also a playground area near the pool and a pin trading board in the Jackson Square gift shop.\u00a0 Bike rentals are available at Port Orleans Riverside and carriage rides make for a tranquil evening activity.\u00a0 Because Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter are sister resorts, guests at either resort are welcome to use the pool and amenities at both resorts.<\/p>\n

\"PQFQ<\/a><\/p>\n

The Doubloon Lagoon Pool at Port Orleans French Quarter features a water slide with King Neptune and a Sea Serpent. \u00a0 The young and young at heart find it a blast to slide down the Sea Serpent’s tongue into the pool! \u00a0The pool area has spraying water, a kiddie pool, and a hot tub.\u00a0 Marti Grogs<\/a> is a fine place to wet your whistle on a hot day, and shutterbugs will love the colorful gators surrounding the pool area! \u00a0The laundry facilities are next to the Doubloon Lagoon Pool, and that makes it convenient to enjoy pool time while catching up on doing laundry.<\/p>\n

The Atmosphere and the Details<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are many things to love about Port Orleans French Quarter, and my favorite thing would be the many details that come together to make it feel as if you are in New Orleans!\u00a0 Jazz music plays in the background, and everything from the \u2018street\u2019 names to the wrought iron railings on the buildings gives this quaint resort a New Orleans vibe.\u00a0 Even the pavement is decorated!<\/p>\n

Yesterday, May 17, Port Orleans French Quarter turned 24 years old! So a happy belated birthday to this fantastic resort!<\/p>\n
