Spring is\u00a0approaching, and that can mean only one thing – it’s time for\u00a0the annual Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival<\/a>! We’ve had the pleasure of visiting Walt Disney World during the\u00a0Flower and Garden Festival for the past four years and can safely say that\u00a0Flower and Garden is Epcot at its finest! The addition of floral displays, gardens, and food booths\u00a0magnifies the beauty of Epcot and fills the park with bursts of color. But for our family, the most magical part of the Flower and Garden Festival is\u00a0the intricately\u00a0detailed character topiaries dotting the landscape.<\/p>\n

As our family prepares for our annual “pilgrimage” to visit the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival this May, we thought it would be fun to look back at our past photos and rank our favorite topiaries from years past. Continue reading for a rundown\u00a0of our family’s top twenty topiaries! One thing to keep in mind is that some of these topiaries are returning for 2015 and some are not. For the full list of character topiaries for this year, check here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

#20 – Phineas and Ferb<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our daughter is a big fan of these fun topiaries, and Phineas and Ferb fit in nicely with the interactive “Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure” game at Epcot.<\/p>\n

#19 – Sleeping Beauty<\/strong><\/p>\n

This timeless\u00a0princess\u00a0topiary, featuring a dance shared by\u00a0Princess Aurora and Prince Philip, adds a touch of romance\u00a0to the France pavilion in Epcot’s\u00a0World Showcase. (Editor’s Note: For some reason…the Sleeping Beauty topiary did not make it in to this year’s festival, even though she was scheduled to.)<\/em><\/p>\n

#18 –\u00a0Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear<\/strong><\/p>\n

When we asked our daughter to help rank topiaries, she declared that they were all her favorite… with the exception of Lots-o, that is! But all evil villainy aside, this is an adorable topiary that artistically incorporates flowers\u00a0to create Lots-o’s signature pink “fur.” It might have just been our\u00a0imagination, but we’re\u00a0pretty sure this topiary even smelled like strawberries!<\/p>\n

#17 – World Cup 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last year the Flower and Garden Festival featured a large topiary celebrating the 2014 World Cup. This festive\u00a0topiary included a soccer field, complete with goals, and colorful balls that paid tribute to each of the countries represented in the FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n

#16 – Classic Mickey and Minnie<\/strong><\/p>\n

You can’t go wrong with these classic Mickey and Minnie topiaries – after all, it all started with a mouse!<\/p>\n

#15 – Lightening McQueen<\/strong><\/p>\n

This life-sized Lightening McQueen topiary was located in the perfect spot – right by\u00a0Test Track. You could fulfill your need for speed on the attraction, and then visit the Piston Cup champ as you strolled out.<\/p>\n

#14 – Buzz Lightyear<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Buzz Lightyear topiary was another example of perfect juxtaposition. You could check out the detailed Toy Story<\/em> topiary on your way to blast off “to infinity and beyond” on Mission Space!<\/p>\n

#13 – Tinkerbell and Friends<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Disney fairies topiaries have been making an appearance at the\u00a0Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival all four years that we’ve attended. One\u00a0year the entire Pixie Hollow crew was displayed in a\u00a0beautiful\u00a0butterfly house and garden. Fawn must have been working her animal-talent magic the day we visited, because in addition to the colorful butterflies, there was also an adorable bunny sneaking around the garden!<\/p>\n

#12 – Fantasia<\/strong><\/p>\n

This classic Fantasia<\/em> topiary expertly captures the whimsy of the film.<\/p>\n

#11 – Monster’s University<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2013\u00a0Monster’s University<\/em>\u00a0topiary display featured\u00a0several large monster topiaries, including Mike and Sully, and celebrated both the release of the newest Pixar film and the launch of Disney’s “Monstrous Summer” promotion.<\/p>\n

#10 – Winnie the Pooh and Friends<\/strong><\/p>\n

Who doesn’t love Winnie the Pooh? Everyone’s favorite hunny-loving bear and his pals have been popping up at the Flower and Garden festival each year that we’ve attended. As you can see from the photos below, there have been some slight variances in the topiaries’ details from year-to-year, but these topiaries are always top-notch!<\/p>\n

#9 – Gardener\u00a0Mickey and Minnie<\/strong><\/p>\n

This adorable Mickey and Minnie topiary ranks higher on our list than their classic counterparts because the gardening\u00a0theme is just\u00a0too<\/em>\u00a0perfect for the Flower and Garden Festival! We also enjoy\u00a0the added\u00a0bursts\u00a0of color in\u00a0the red floral details on Minnie’s dress and bow, and the bright\u00a0yellow flowers comprising\u00a0her\u00a0shoes.<\/p>\n

#8 – Rafiki and Simba<\/strong><\/p>\n

We adore\u00a0the colorful details of this Rafiki and Simba topiary, and Scott always has to replicate the classic pose with our daughter when we pass by. We’ll see how much longer he’s able to pull it off!<\/p>\n

#7 – Muppets Most Wanted<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each year there is a new topiary celebrating a recent\u00a0Disney film release, and last year’s was a nod to Muppets Most Wanted <\/em>featuring none other than Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. It’s “easy being green”\u00a0on our list, as this is one of our top\u00a0topiaries!<\/p>\n

#6 – Peter Pan and Captain Hook<\/strong><\/p>\n

Peter Pan and Captain Hook are another set of recurring topiaries that never fail to\u00a0capture\u00a0our attention! You never know where these fanciful topiaries will show up – one year you had to look up to spot Peter Pan on a\u00a0rooftop in the UK pavilion. And we can’t\u00a0forget to mention the perfectly detailed Tick Tock Crock, always lurking close behind Captain Hook!<\/p>\n

#5 – Snow White<\/strong><\/p>\n

Snow White (and her\u00a07 dwarfs) is another example of a topiary that has undergone some changes through the years, the most noticeable of which was the addition of her face in 2014. You can usually spot this Snow White topiary frolicking in the gardens of Germany – where else?<\/p>\n

#4 – Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival\u00a020th<\/span> Anniversary<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2013, the Epcot\u00a0International Flower & Garden Festival celebrated its 20th Anniversary with this amazing topiary scene featuring the fab five (plus Daisy) enjoying a garden picnic. This ambitious\u00a0topiary included Gardener Mickey and Minnie;\u00a0a life-sized Goofy, complete with anniversary cake; Pluto helping himself to\u00a0the picnic fare; and Donald and Daisy enjoying a game of\u00a0badminton!<\/p>\n

#3 – Beauty and the Beast<\/strong><\/p>\n

Certain as the sun rising in the East, one of the most delightful\u00a0topiaries is that of\u00a0Beauty and the Beast<\/em>. (Sorry – we couldn’t resist!) Seriously though, this set of topiaries, which includes Belle, Beast, Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and Chip, is beyond enchanting and captures every last detail of these beloved characters!<\/p>\n

#2 – Lady and the Tramp<\/strong><\/p>\n

Throughout\u00a0the years, the Lady and the Tramp<\/em> topiary in the Italy pavilion has become so beloved by our family, that we would be heartbroken if it didn’t return. This topiary perfectly captures the details of our favorite canine characters – from their facial expressions to the wispy, hair-like plants comprising Lady’s ears – the only thing missing is a\u00a0plate of spaghetti (which is available right around the corner at\u00a0Tutto Italia).<\/p>\n

#1 – Bambi and Friends<\/strong><\/p>\n

And finally, our top topiary is\u00a0the colorful\u00a0cuteness of forest friends Bambi, Flower, and Thumper! Our number one\u00a0topiary simply screams\u00a0“Springtime,” which makes it the\u00a0perfect\u00a0match\u00a0for the celebration of Spring that is the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. I guess you could say that we’re\u00a0“twitterpated” with this topiary!<\/p>\n
