These sounded incredible!\u00a0 I knew I had to selflessly try them so I could share the details with you!\u00a0 I really took one for the team&#8230;hee hee.<\/p>\n<p>So, in case you don&#8217;t know, the Golden Oak Outpost is located in Frontierland.\u00a0 If entering the area through Adventureland, it&#8217;s this permanent kiosk that&#8217;s found just a little ways down, across from Pecos Bill&#8217;s.\u00a0 The Golden Oak Outpost has gone through a few changes in the past few years.\u00a0 First the location sold french fries&#8230;McDonald&#8217;s french fries, to be exact.\u00a0 Then, after McDonald&#8217;s left the theme parks, the area sort of floundered.\u00a0 They attempted to sell things like chicken sandwiches and corn nuggets, but honestly nothing ever stuck.\u00a0 Then, they announced the area was going to be selling the brilliant creation of specialty waffle fries!<\/p>\n<p>There are four different specialty waffle fries to choose from.\u00a0 They include:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/2015\/01\/foodie-friday-snack-spotlight-golden-oak-outpost\/golden-oak-menu\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-36762\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-36762\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Golden-Oak-Menu-270x400.jpg\" alt=\"Golden Oak Menu\" width=\"270\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Golden-Oak-Menu-270x400.jpg 270w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Golden-Oak-Menu.jpg 405w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 270px) 100vw, 270px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Brown Gravy and Cheese Waffle Fries<\/b> &#8211; topped with Brown Gravy and White Cheddar<\/li>\n<li><b>BLT Waffle Fries<\/b> &#8211; topped with Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, and Ranch Dressing<\/li>\n<li><b>Barbecue Pork Waffle Fries<\/b> &#8211; topped with Barbecue Pork and Coleslaw<\/li>\n<li><b>Tex-Mex Waffle Fries<\/b> &#8211; topped with Black Bean Cucumber Relish, warm Cheddar and Slice Jalape\u00f1os<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Not gonna lie&#8230;they all sounded fantastic.\u00a0 Given that I didn&#8217;t want to be a huge glutton, I decided to only try one.\u00a0 So, I went with the BLT Waffle Fries.\u00a0 I had heard that these were similar to the often remember, but now gone, Figaro Fries found at Pinocchio&#8217;s Village Haus. (This version was just a little bit different.)<\/p>\n<p>One bite in and I was in heaven.\u00a0 These fries were incredible.\u00a0 The bacon was cooked to perfection and there was lots of it.\u00a0 The lettuce and tomatoes were in full force.\u00a0 The ranch was a nice zesty addition.\u00a0 I do wish the fries had a touch more puff to them&#8230;I was expecting more along the lines of Chic-fil-a fries, but these featured a little less potato, it seemed; they seemed a little crispier.\u00a0 I also do wish there had been just a few more fries in the dish as there was still some left over toppings after all the fries were gone. \u00a0\u00a0 But overall, these were a win.\u00a0 Grab a fork though, because these are not something you&#8217;ll be able to eat well with your fingers!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/2015\/01\/foodie-friday-best-walt-disney-world-food-2014\/waffle-fries\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-36184\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-36184\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Waffle-Fries-400x335.jpg\" alt=\"Waffle Fries\" width=\"400\" height=\"335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Waffle-Fries-400x335.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Waffle-Fries.jpg 550w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, that wasn&#8217;t all I came to the Golden Oak Outpost to try!\u00a0 They also had been touting that they had something called sweet potato nuggets.\u00a0 Well&#8230;I HAD to try those.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/2015\/01\/foodie-friday-best-walt-disney-world-food-2014\/sweet-potato-nuggets\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-36180\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-36180\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Sweet-Potato-Nuggets-400x335.jpg\" alt=\"Sweet Potato Nuggets\" width=\"400\" height=\"335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Sweet-Potato-Nuggets-400x335.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Sweet-Potato-Nuggets.jpg 550w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If I thought the waffle fries were good&#8230;the sweet potato nuggets were heavenly.\u00a0 They were small and looked sort of like tater tots, but they weren&#8217;t nearly as crunchy.\u00a0 They were covered with powdered sugar too.\u00a0 I popped one in my mouth and oh my gosh!\u00a0 It was like a sweet potato explosion!\u00a0 This little warm nugget was filled with wonderful sweet flavor. The powdered sugar enhanced the sweet taste even more.\u00a0 This is a fantastic snack for those who like sweet potatoes!<\/p>\n<p>There is one slight problem with Golden Oak Outpost&#8230;it appears to only be open on &#8220;peak&#8221; days.\u00a0 The snack shop is often closed during the week and often only open on Saturdays, especially in the off-season, which makes me sad because I would constantly be grabbing a sweet potato nugget snack every chance I could get!\u00a0 (And waffle fries too&#8230;because seriously, I&#8217;ve only scratched the surface!\u00a0 I must try other flavors to see how they compare!)<\/p>\n<p><em>What do you think?\u00a0 Do these Specialty Waffle Fries (and Sweet Potato Nuggets) sound right up your alley?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Did you hear last Fall that Walt Disney World was introducing specialty waffle fries at the Golden Oak Outpost at the Magic Kingdom?\u00a0 Were you as excited as I was?
