June was a great month for the Disney Parks. It brought the Monorail<\/em> and The Enchanted Tiki Room <\/em>to Disneyland, a Space Mountain<\/em> ride to Disneyland Paris, Alice and Wonderland <\/em>and the Columbia<\/em> sailing ship to Disneyland, and brought Walt Disney World a couple of water parks (although one is no longer open). June also brought something that was personal favorite, The Main Street Electrical Parade,<\/em> to Disneyland.<\/p>\n

June 1, 1989 – Typhoon Lagoon<\/em> Water Park opens at Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n

June 1, 1995 – The Space Mountain: de la Terre \u00e0 la Lune <\/em>attraction opens in Discoveryland at Disneyland Paris.<\/p>\n

June 1, 2009 – The Treehouse Villas (phase 4 of Disney’s Sarasota Springs Resort and Spa) opens at the Walt Disney World Resort.<\/p>\n

June 7, 1975 – The Mission to Mars<\/em> attraction opens in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n

June 11, 2007 – The Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage<\/em> attraction officially opens to the public in Tomorrowland at Disneyland.<\/p>\n

June 14, 1958 – The Sailing Ship\u00a0Columbia<\/em>\u00a0attraction firsts \u201csets sail\u201d along the Rivers of America in Disneyland. It is a replica of the original\u00a0Columbia<\/em>, the first ship to circumnavigate the globe, in 1787.<\/p>\n

June 14, 1958 – The Alice in Wonderland<\/em> attraction officially opens in Fantasyland at Disneyland.<\/p>\n

June 14, 1959 – The Disneyland-Alweg Monorail System<\/em> begins operation in Tomorrowland at Disneyland. It became the first daily operating monorail system in the United States, as well as the entire Western Hemisphere.<\/p>\n

June 14, 1959 – The Matterhorn Mountain with its Matterhorn Bobsleds<\/em> ride opens in Fantasyland at Disneyland. It is the first roller coaster constructed with continuous tubular steel track.<\/p>\n

June 16, 1956 – The Tom Sawyer Island<\/em> attraction, and the Tom Sawyer Island Rafts<\/em> open in Frontierland at Disneyland.<\/p>\n

June 16, 1957 – The Holidayland picnic area opens adjacent to Disneyland. It could hold up to 7,000 people for large events and had its own entrance gates to the park.<\/p>\n

June 17, 1972 – The Main Street Electrical Parade<\/em> begins running at Disneyland.<\/p>\n

June 18, 1988 – Mickey’s Birthdayland opens near Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n

June 20, 1976 – The River Country Water Park opens at Walt Disney World. It closed in 2001, making it one of only two Disney Parks to close permanently.<\/p>\n

June 20, 1995 – The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter<\/em> attraction officially opens to the public in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n

June 23, 1956 – The Skyway to Tomorrowland<\/em>\u00a0and the Skyway to Fantasyland<\/em> officially open in Disneyland.<\/p>\n

June 23, 1963 – The<\/em> Enchanted Tiki Room<\/em> attraction opens in Adventureland at Disneyland.<\/p>\n
