I received this app free of charge, so I could try it out and share my thoughts with you.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"La<\/a><\/p>\n

La Luna<\/em> is the Pixar short film that accompanied the movie Brave<\/em> at the theaters.\u00a0 You know, there are quite a few different Pixar shorts, but of all of them, I think my favorite is La Luna<\/em>.\u00a0 La Luna<\/em> tells the story of a young boy who goes to work with his father and grandfather for the first time.<\/p>\n

\"La<\/a><\/p>\n

La Luna:\u00a0 The Story Project<\/em> is an iPad app that shows the different steps that went into the making of La Luna<\/em>.\u00a0 I love to see how movies are made.\u00a0 {Yes, I did buy the Disney Animated app.}\u00a0 But, as usual, my kids grabbed the iPad as soon as La Luna:\u00a0 The Story Project<\/em> started to download.<\/p>\n

When I had the chance to look at this app myself, I started by turning back the page to see the “Behind the Scenes” options.<\/p>\n

\"La<\/a><\/p>\n

I started off with the first option of learning about “Storyboards”.\u00a0 Then, to my surprise, I found several of the storyboards and was able to flip through many of the drawings.\u00a0 I’m not sure that all of them are there, but there are quite a few.\u00a0 Then, I clicked on the “Turntable” to see the rough characters in three dimension.\u00a0 Under the “Sound Design” tab, there are videos of how some sounds were made and the section of the short film the sounds appeared in.\u00a0 In the “Visual Design” section, there are drawings of different objects in the film, like the hammer and shed.<\/p>\n

\"La<\/a><\/p>\n

The final section, “Progression Reel”, is probably my favorite section of the app.\u00a0 In this section, there are videos of the three different stages of production:\u00a0 Storyboard, Animation, and Finished Film.\u00a0 I had fun choosing 2 of the 3 options to watch them side-by-side.\u00a0 It was interesting to see how they fit together.<\/p>\n

\"La<\/a><\/p>\n

Next, I chose to check out the “Interactive Video” from the menu page.\u00a0 This video gave me several places to interact with the video by swiping the screen to change pictures, for example.\u00a0 The above picture is my favorite part of the interactive video where I was able to move the iPad back-and-forth as the boy fell through the stars.<\/p>\n

\"La<\/a><\/p>\n

From there, I moved on to the “Storybook”.\u00a0 What is neat is that by clicking the magnifying glass in the upper right-hand corner, I was able to replace the storybook photo with a still from the short film.\u00a0 I’m not sure which picture I prefer, to tell the truth.\u00a0 The last option on the menu page is “Short Film”.\u00a0 This is where I was able to watch the full La Luna<\/em> short film.<\/p>\n

So, what did I think about La Luna:\u00a0 The Story Project<\/em>?\u00a0 There are so many great back-story items in this app that this is a “must-have” app for any Disney\/Pixar animation fan.\u00a0 At $3.99, I think the app is well priced for all that is in it, considering a Pixar short film on iTunes is $1.99.\u00a0 Note:\u00a0 This app is not compatible with all iPads.\u00a0 Please verify that your iPad will work with this app before making a purchase.<\/p>\n
