September was one busy month for the Disney Parks and it also seems to have been the month of the closings, with over 20 rides, attractions, parades, and restaurants closing in various years in the month of September. September also is the anniversary month of Tokyo DisneySea as well as Hong Kong Disneyland!<\/p>\n<p>September 1, 1978 \u2013 The Stage Door Caf\u00e9 opens in Disneyland.<\/p>\n<p>September 1, 1989 &#8211; Disneyland welcomes its 300-millionth guest: Claudine Masson. Among her prizes was a life time pass to the park!<\/p>\n<p>September 1, 2001 \u2013 The River Country water park at <a title=\"Walt Disney World\" href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/walt-disney-world\/\">Walt Disney World<\/a> closes.<\/p>\n<p>September 2, 1979 \u2013 The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad attraction opens in Frontierland at Disneyland. Total cost to build was $15.8 million.<\/p>\n<p>September 2, 1985 \u2013 The Adventure Through Inner Space attraction closes in Tomorrowland at Disneyland.<\/p>\n<p>September 2, 1991 \u2013 The show \u201cHere Comes the Muppets\u201d closes at Disney-MGM Studios.<\/p>\n<p>September 4, 1997 \u2013 The \u201cSpirit of Pocahontas\u201d show closes in Disneyland.<\/p>\n<p>September 4, 2001 \u2013 Tokyo DisneySea Theme Park opens in Japan. There are 7 \u201cports of call\u201d and 23 original attractions. One of the attractions is the Caravan Carousel, the first two-story carousel in a Disney park.<\/p>\n<p>September 5, 1983 \u2013 The 5-millionth guest walks through the gates at Tokyo Disneyland. The Cinderella Fountain is installed in the park that same day, a gift from Walt Disney Productions.<\/p>\n<p>September 5, 1994 \u2013 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World closes.<\/p>\n<p>September 6, 1976 \u2013 The \u201cAmerica on Parade\u201d show closes at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. It performed over 1200 shows to a total 25 million people.<\/p>\n<p>September 7, 2010 \u2013 The Maliboomer attraction in Disney\u2019s California Adventure closes.<\/p>\n<p>September 7, 1984 \u2013 The Morocco Pavilion opens in Epcot at Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n<p>September 7, 1997 \u2013 The Circle-Vision Theater in Disneyland closes.<\/p>\n<p>September 8, 1955 \u2013 Disneyland\u2019s one millionth visitor, 5 year old Elsa Marquez, is welcomed. This is only 7 weeks after the park\u2019s grand opening!<\/p>\n<p>September 9, 1973 \u2013 The Carousel of Progress attraction in Tomorrowland at Disneyland closes. (The song \u201cThere\u2019s A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow\u201d, however, is still stuck in our heads)<\/p>\n<p>September 9, 1988 \u2013 The 60-millionth guest enters Tokyo Disneyland.<\/p>\n<p>September 9, 2001 \u2013 The \u201cTapestry of Nations\u201d parade gives its last performance in Epcot at Walt Disney World. The Country Bear Vacation Hoedown in Bear Country at Disneyland also closes that same day.<\/p>\n<p>September 10-13, 2009 \u2013 The first Disney D23 Expo is held in Anaheim, California. At this convention a major renovation (to be completed in 2013) is announced for Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n<p>September 11, 2001 \u2013 Following the tragic events of the morning of Sept. 11, Walt Disney World is closed for the remainder of the day and Disneyland and Disney\u2019s California Adventure do not open.<\/p>\n<p>September 12, 1986 \u2013 The 3D movie, \u201cCaptain-Eo\u201d, which stars Michael Jackson, opens in Epcot at Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n<p>September 12, 2005 \u2013 Hong Kong Disneyland opens in Hong Kong, China.<\/p>\n<p>September 14, 1991 \u2013 \u201cThe Main Street Electrical Parade\u201d closes in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. It has returned to the park 2 more times and is currently still running.<\/p>\n<p>September 15, 1984 \u2013 The Circle Vision movie \u201cAmerican Journeys\u201d opens in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n<p>September 15, 1999 \u2013 Most of Walt Disney World remains closed for the day, for the first time since its opening, due to threat of Hurricane Floyd.<\/p>\n<p>September 16, 1984 \u2013 \u201cThe Eternal Sea\u201d 3D film in Tomorrowland at Tokyo Disneyland closes.<\/p>\n<p>September 16, 1991 \u2013 \u201cMuppets on Location \u2013 The Days of Swine and Roses\u201d the live show opens in Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World<\/p>\n<p>September 19 (?), 1966 \u2013 The Monsanto Hall of Chemistry attraction at Disneyland closes (exact date in September is debated).<\/p>\n<p>September 22, 1991 \u2013 The Surprise Celebration Parade begins running in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n<p>September 24, 1992 \u2013 The first Disneyana Convention to be hosted by Disney is held at Walt Disney World. The convention is held over 4 days with a total attendance of 750 people.<\/p>\n<p>September 26, 1991 \u2013 The Dinosaurs Live parade begins performances in Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n<p>September 27, 1984 \u2013 \u201cThe Show Biz Is\u201d show closes in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n<p>September 27, 1993 \u2013 The Listen to the Land boat ride and the Tomorrow\u2019s Harvest tour both close in The Land Pavilion at Epcot.
