The Cinderella Storybook Deluxe app is another in the increasing line of stories from Disney Publishing Worldwide Applications.\u00a0 I look back to my childhood and the read-a-long storybooks on vinyl records (45s).\u00a0 Do you remember those?\u00a0 There was a “ding” or other sound for when to turn the page.\u00a0 In these storybook deluxe apps, each word is highlighted as it is spoken.\u00a0 This technology really has improved the way our children are introduced to reading!<\/p>\n

The Cinderella Storybook Deluxe app starts out with the choices of being read to, reading independently, and activities.\u00a0 I started with having the story read to me.\u00a0 Until recently, Cinderella was my daughter’s favorite princess story.\u00a0 It’s funny, though, that she came running over to see what I was doing as soon as I started listening to the story.<\/p>\n

\"Cinderella<\/a><\/p>\n

Like many of the storybook deluxe apps from Disney, this story contains a mixture of still photos\/drawings and video or moving elements.\u00a0 It wasn’t truly a clip from the movie, but there were several times that the animals moved within the screen.\u00a0 In the screen shot above, the birds chirped and flapped their wings when I touched the circles.<\/p>\n

After hearing the story, I headed over to the activities section.\u00a0 There is a sing-along for “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo”, six pictures to paint, and six puzzles.\u00a0 Enough to keep a young girl busy for a while.<\/p>\n

Most young girls will like the painting on this app.\u00a0 See the upper left hand color that looks like a jewel?\u00a0 That’s what I used to make the glittery color on this picture.\u00a0 While I was painting with it, glitter fell down the dress.\u00a0 I tried to capture it in my screen shot, but it is a little hard to see.\u00a0 It is a really neat effect, though.<\/p>\n

\"Cinderella<\/a><\/p>\n

Finally, the puzzles.\u00a0 These are definitely for the younger set as the puzzle above is the “3 slipper” category or hardest one.\u00a0 Isn’t that cute how they rated them in slippers?\u00a0 It may be hard to see, but the above puzzle has a photo of the coach being pulled by horses.\u00a0 When I finished the puzzle, the horses pulled the coach down the road.<\/p>\n

I like the Cinderella Storybook Deluxe app for its simplicity and for its staying true to the timeless art from the movie.\u00a0 The app is priced at $3.99 and is supposed to work on the iPhone\/iPad\/iPod Touch.\u00a0 I tested this app on my iPad.\u00a0 As always, please verify that your device meets the criteria listed before buying this app.<\/p>\n
