My favorite Christmas program as a child was Christmas Eve on\u00a0Sesame Street.\u00a0\u00a0In this show, Bob and Linda sing (and sign) a song called \u201cKeep Christmas With You All Through the Year\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0I try to do that with Disney.<\/p>\n

You know the feeling\u2026you\u2019ve left the parks.\u00a0\u00a0You\u2019re back at home.\u00a0\u00a0Maybe you have a bounceback trip booked, maybe you have no idea when you\u2019ll get back to Walt Disney World.\u00a0\u00a0Either way, there\u2019s always the post-vacation Disney Depression.<\/p>\n

So my goal is to keep the magic of Disney alive in our home.\u00a0\u00a0I\u2019ve got a whole list of ways I do this.<\/p>\n

1 \u2013<\/strong> Disney food. <\/strong>I\u2019m no foodie.\u00a0\u00a0I like to eat food that tastes good, but I\u2019m no gourmet.\u00a0\u00a0But I love the food at Disney.\u00a0\u00a0After we get home, I search the internet and find the recipes for the foods I liked there.\u00a0\u00a0For example, we weren\u2019t back from Disney two weeks before I\u2019d cooked the Carrot-Ginger Soup from Boma.\u00a0\u00a0I\u2019ve ordered the Pineapple Dole Whip mix from Unified Enterprises and made Dole Whips at home.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0When I\u2019m craving a Mickey Ice Cream bar, I head to the local grocery store and pick up a box of Dove Ice Cream Bars.\u00a0\u00a0If you close your eyes, you\u2019ll swear you\u2019re eating a Mickey Ice Cream Bar even if it isn\u2019t shaped like a Mickey Head.<\/p>\n

2 \u2013 Other food. <\/strong>We buy Disney fruit snacks and Mickey-head shaped chicken.<\/p>\n

3 \u2013<\/strong> Mickey Heads. <\/strong>We search out Hidden Mickeys.\u00a0\u00a0My son is known to arrange his three pills into a Mickey Head before taking them each day.<\/p>\n

In the past two weeks, I\u2019ve seen this hidden Mickey on the back of an Office Max truck<\/p>\n

And this one in the Longhorn Steakhouse we ate at for our anniversary.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

4 \u2013<\/strong> Playing Disney Games. <\/strong>A family favorite at the Disney\u2019s Hollywood Studios is Toy Story Mania, so of course we had to get the game for the Wii.\u00a0\u00a0We also enjoy answering the Disney-movie themed questions in Think Fast<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0We just recently got Toy Story 3 for the Wii.\u00a0\u00a0I love playing the Friday Night Trivia Chat on The Mouse For Less website.<\/p>\n

5 \u2013<\/strong> The Music. <\/strong>My personal favorite souvenirs from the parks are CD\u2019s.\u00a0\u00a0Four Parks, One World<\/em><\/a><\/strong> has music from the attractions from all four parks.\u00a0\u00a0We also have the\u00a0Illuminations <\/em>and\u00a0Wishes<\/em> CD\u2019s.\u00a0\u00a0On the 4th<\/sup> of July, my daughter made us play\u00a0Wishes<\/em> while we watched the local fireworks display.\u00a0\u00a0All that was missing was\u00a0CinderellaCastle!\u00a0\u00a0And who wouldn\u2019t feel the magic when the whole family is traveling down the turnpike while singing \u201cYo Ho (A Pirate\u2019s Life for Me)\u201d<\/p>\n

6 \u2013 Videos of the shows and attractions. <\/strong>Websites like Youtube and Magical Theme Parks<\/strong> have great videos of the fireworks shows, live action shows (like my beloved Festival of the Lion King) and even the actual attractions.\u00a0\u00a0We love putting Jud\u2019s Soarin\u2019 video<\/a><\/strong> up on the TV (using the internet on my husband\u2019s PS3) to feel like we\u2019re riding Soarin\u2019 at home (scents of orange groves and pine trees not included).<\/p>\n

7 \u2013 Souvenirs that you can use. <\/strong>In addition to the CD\u2019s, we try to buy souvenirs that we\u2019ll actually use!\u00a0\u00a0I love my Walt Disney World hoodie and the Disney Refillable Mugs are the most-often used cups in our house.\u00a0\u00a0For a while popcorn had to be served in the souvenir bucket; I don\u2019t bake without my Mickey apron; and the hats that the kids wear for hat day are always, always, always their Mickey Ears.\u00a0\u00a0I smile each time I get into my Trailblazer with the Sorcerer Mickey head on the antenna.<\/p>\n

8 \u2013 Watching the Disney Movies. <\/strong>Of course, we watch Disney movies to remember the magic.\u00a0\u00a0Who doesn\u2019t smile to see Aladdin and Jasmine fly on the magic carpet, or Cinderella finally get her due?<\/p>\n

9 \u2013 Photos from our vacation. <\/strong>How better to remember the magic than to look at the pictures from the trip?\u00a0\u00a0I do photobooks (and in process scrapbooks) of our trips and we all enjoy sitting down to see the pictures.\u00a0\u00a0We look at the pictures of the Jammin\u2019 Jungle Parade and remember my husband dancing to the music, my daughter getting a fist-bump from Chip and my son getting a high-five from Baloo!<\/p>\n

10 \u2013 Planning your next trip. <\/strong>Whether you have another trip booked or not, planning for that next trip is a great way to keep the magic with you.\u00a0\u00a0Look at restaurant menus.\u00a0Read trip reports online.\u00a0\u00a0Keep up with the posts on the Mouse for Less Yahoo Group.\u00a0\u00a0Talk with your family about what worked and what didn\u2019t work on a previous trip.<\/p>\n

11 – Read Disney Books. <\/strong>I read every Disney-themed book I can get my hands on.\u00a0 From planning guides like the Passporter<\/a><\/strong> and The Complete Walt Disney World<\/a><\/strong> to Walt Disney’s Biography<\/a><\/strong> to fiction books like The Kingdom Keepers series<\/a><\/strong>. I love reading books about my favorite place on Earth.<\/p>\n

All these activities help me to feel the magic of Disney while at home and they even help me to feel less \u201chomesick\u201d for my home away from home.<\/p>\n
