As I write this race day is only a few days away.\u00a0 Earlier this week I had my last official long training run until race day, 12 miles thank you very much!\u00a0 I NEVER in a hundred million years thought that I would be doing this.\u00a0 I have a few more \u201cshort\u201d runs, 6 or 9 miles that I will be alternating until the day before I leave.\u00a0 I have to admit that I am very excited about the trip, and yes, even the running part.\u00a0 I am so spoiled by Disney atmosphere that I just know that the race is going to be so entertaining it will be over too quickly.\u00a0 After my cousin and I finished our run the other day, I commented to her that I was having mixed feelings about the looming race day.\u00a0 On one hand I want it to hurry up and get here because all this running is getting kind of old, but at the same time when it\u2019s over I will be sad because the anticipation is half the fun, at least for me.<\/p>\n
I had a short moment of panic recently when I went to buy a new pair of running shoes.\u00a0 My original plan was to buy the same exact shoes that I have been running in for the past 6 months.\u00a0 They are comfy and I know that they are good shoes for me.\u00a0 Easy, right?\u00a0 Wrong!\u00a0 Those exact shoes are no longer made and when I got to the store to try on what I thought was the new version of my old shoe, guess what?\u00a0 They didn\u2019t fit the same and the color was all wrong.\u00a0 Maybe the color shouldn\u2019t bother me so much, but it does.\u00a0 I have to love my shoes.\u00a0 If I don\u2019t love them it throws me off, it\u2019s a girl thing I think.\u00a0 Anyway, after an hour of trying to find new shoes at one store, I ended up at an entirely different store that really did\u00a0 have a new, updated version of my old shoe.\u00a0 They fit well and the color is acceptable.\u00a0 My old shoes are pink which I thought was very appropriate for the Princess \u00bd Marathon, but blue is going to have to work.\u00a0 I think I chose Cinderella as my favorite princess anyway so at least my colors will coordinate.\u00a0 (From what I understand they put your favorite princess on your race bib!\u00a0 FUN!)<\/p>\n
So I am ready.\u00a0 My training has gone well, I know I can run the 13.1 miles is the time allowed.\u00a0 I have a new pair of running shoes that are going to serve me well on race day. \u00a0The reservations at the resort are set and paid for.\u00a0 I have double checked our ADRs and they are what they should be.\u00a0 The travel documents and Magical Express tickets are in a safe place, ready to go.\u00a0 I have printed my Race Day Waiver so that I don\u2019t have to wait in line at the Expo for it and I can go right to the line to pick up my packet.\u00a0 The only thing that could get in the way now is the weather.\u00a0 I am hoping for no rain and a cool temperature somewhere in the 50\u2019s would be nice.<\/p>\n
When I get back I will be sure to do a full trip report complete with pictures and reviews of our different experiences.\u00a0 I will let you know the end result of planning a Girl\u2019s weekend away when it involves strenuous exercise and people from different areas of the country.\u00a0 (Please no more blizzards in New England!\u00a0 My friends don\u2019t need their flights delayed or cancelled!) \u00a0\u00a0Wish me luck!\u00a0 Here I go\u2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
