FUTURE WORLD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As someone who helps people plan vacations, one of the questions I sometime hear is &#8220;What&#8217;s in Epcot for Kids?&#8221;\u00a0 The answer is PLENTY!\u00a0 Rides, shows and characters abound in Epcot. \u00a0\u00a0You just have to get IN to those buildings to find them.<\/p>\n<p>From the time my children were little, Epcot has always been our go-to park for food, crowd escape, just strolling around.\u00a0 As a large space Epcot soaks up crowds well.\u00a0 It can be described as two parks:\u00a0 Future World and the World Showcase.\u00a0 This was a park designed to educate and entertain, and its twice the size of the Magic Kingdom.\u00a0 You really can&#8217;t do Epcot justice in just one day, as this is a place where you really need to explore what is in the buildings you see.\u00a0 In this post I&#8217;ll discuss the FUTURE WORLD part of Epcot.<\/p>\n<p>The front of Epcot is Future World and the back is the World Showcase.\u00a0 In Future World you will find <strong>FUTURE WORLD EAST<\/strong> which includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Spaceship Earth :<\/strong>\u00a0 slow moving ride in the big ball, with some interactive features, that discuss the history of communications.\u00a0 The end of the attraction has an area with games, and it can really eat up a lot of time.\u00a0Avoid this first thing in the morning as it will have a line.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Universe of Energy:<\/strong>\u00a0 Hosted by Ellen DeGeneres (and filmed about 20 years ago!), you can journey back to the era of dinosaurs.\u00a0 \u00a0For us this has always been a great place for a rest, or a location to escape rain during the summer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mission Space<\/strong>:\u00a0 Tap into your inner astronaut as you blast into space.\u00a0 Orange is intense and Green is mild (no spinning.)\u00a0 After the attraction is an interactive game area.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Test Track:<\/strong>\u00a0 A mild coaster where you sit in a car and become &#8216;crash test dummies.&#8217;\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0This is the longest and fastest attraction in Disney history.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Innoventions:\u00a0 <\/strong>Disney says that Innoventions is<strong> &#8220;<\/strong>a 2-building pavilion and interactive play space for kids of all ages where you can imagine, invent, inquire and be inspired while exploring amazing innovations that make our lives better.&#8221; \u00a0Of course they&#8217;re right &#8211; there is a whole lot to do in Innoventions.<\/p>\n<p>In <strong>Innoventions East<\/strong> you will find:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Sum of All Thrills:<\/strong>\u00a0 Build your own rollercoaster and climb into a robotic simulator and ride it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Storm Struck:<\/strong>\u00a0 Experience the perfect storm and learn how to protect your home and family.\u00a0 Its 3D and very realistic and loud.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Test the Limits Lab:<\/strong>\u00a0 shatter, drop and impact a TV.\u00a0 Really!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Environmentality Corner:<\/strong>\u00a0 Learn about protecting and preserving our environment, and even make some paper.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Innoventions West <\/strong>includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Great Piggy Bank Adventure:\u00a0 <\/strong>This is a whole lot of fun and I love it.\u00a0 Teaches (in an entertaining way) the importance of financial planning.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Smarter Planet:<\/strong>\u00a0 Shows how advances in computer design can reduce energy use.\u00a0 Then you create an avatar and experience a video game.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Videogame Playground:<\/strong>\u00a0 Disney&#8217;s &#8216;commercial&#8217; for their games.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Heading out of Innoventions West you&#8217;ll go to <strong>Future World West<\/strong>.\u00a0 Located here is:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Living Seas<\/em> <\/strong>has a huge aquarium with varieties of sea life and some attractions too.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Seas with Nemo and Friends<\/strong>:\u00a0 Board a &#8216;clamobile&#8217; and see if you can find nemo.\u00a0 Bet you&#8217;ll be humming that song for a while!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Turtle Talk with Crush:<\/strong>\u00a0 Inspired by Crush from Finding Nemo, enjoy conversation while wondering &#8220;how do they do that?&#8221;\u00a0 Send the younger kids to the front and be prepared to laugh.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coral Reef Restaurant:\u00a0 <\/strong>Seafood, steaks and more. \u00a0Table Service location; Reservations required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In<strong> <em>The Land<\/em> <\/strong>you will find<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a0Soarin&#8217;:\u00a0 <\/strong>Free flying hang gliding over \u00a0California.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u00a0Living With The Land:<\/strong>\u00a0 Slow moving boat voyage through the greenhouses in Epcot.\u00a0 The produce grown in this area is actually used in Disney\u00a0restaurants.\u00a0 There is also a relatively inexpensive tour you can take of the green houses.\u00a0 Sign up at the desk outside of Soarin&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u00a0Circle of Life:\u00a0 <\/strong>Short film featuring Timon, Pumbaa and Simba.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sunshine Seasons:\u00a0 <\/strong>Probably the &#8216;best&#8217; quick service location in any of the Disney parks with soups, salads, sandwiches, and wood fired specialties.\u00a0We love the salmon and rotisserie chicken.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Imagination!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Journey Into Imagination with Figment.\u00a0 <\/strong>Meet Figment&#8230; a purple dragon.\u00a0 But hold on to your hats and sunglasses!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Captain EO:<\/strong>\u00a0 A 3D film that follows Captain EO and his crew on a mission to rescue the planet through the gift of music, dance and light.\u00a0 See Michael Jackson in the peak of his career.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Epcot Character Spot:<\/strong>\u00a0 Meet Mickey and his friends in their own &#8216;toon&#8217; versions of Innoventions and get photos and autographs.<\/p>\n<p>Food in Future World includes some snacks like ice cream and popcorn, the Fountain View Ice Cream store (featuring Edy&#8217;s ice cream), Electric Umbrella (burgers and sandwiches).\u00a0 Over by Test Track is Cool Wash (you&#8217;ll get the pun during the warmer weather, but its themed as a car wash), and there&#8217;s also a pizza cart open during select hours.<\/p>\n<p>Typically Future World is open until 7pm.\u00a0 During the busier seasons it will have extended hours.\u00a0 This place is a huge time eater&#8211;expect to stand in lines and be entertained, and you are likely to be side tracked by something else to do.\u00a0 If you have only one day to do Epcot, you&#8217;re going to need to decide what you&#8217;re going to skip.\u00a0 Visiting characters in Epcot is usually a good plan because it is so very efficient to go to one place and get five or six (or more) in one spot.<\/p>\n<p>On a side note:\u00a0 Future World can very loud.\u00a0 Lots of interactivity and people actually &#8216;doing&#8217;
