Disney World Deals

Let’s be honest, Disney World isn’t inexpensive, but are you leaving discounts on the table? Most of us are familiar with the discounts Disney offers, but there are other ways to save.

Hidden Disney World Discount #1: The Hidden Disney Visa Discounts

Disney Deals screenshot

Disney does a good job of letting everyone know that a Disney Visa qualifies you for a 10% merchandise discount when you spend $50 but this is just the start. Several resort restaurants offer 10-15% off including some World Showcase restaurants at lunch and my favorite restaurant Sanaa. There are also tour and Disney Springs discounts, so make sure you’re getting the most out of your Disney Visa.

Hidden Disney World Discount #2: A package is not always best

Check (or have your The Magic For Less travel agent check) if a package is really the best deal. Disney runs discounts off of different portions particularly if you are there for a group event or a Florida resident. Typically big promotions like “Free Dining” also are accompanied by a room discount option and depending on your family this may be the better deal. Also sometimes there are separate ticket discounts. Ticket discounts through Disney are rarer, but they are often available for Florida residents and occasionally to the general public.

Hidden Disney World Discount #3: Swan & Dolphin Discounts

The Swan and Dolphin Hotels are located on Disney World property but are not operated by Disney. As a result, this makes them eligible for some unique discounts. First, they are operated by Starwood Hotels & Resorts which means you can use points if you are a SPG Member (and soon likely Marriott Rewards as well). Second, they offer a variety of discounts that other Disney resorts do not. These include special rates for teachers, nurses, the military, and government workers. They also offer AAA/CAA discounts. Like with other resorts with similar discounts, some proof of employment such as a letter may required at check in. Often these discounts, make the resort a deluxe experience for roughly the same price as a moderate.

It should be noted, however, that the Swan and Dolphin are not Walt Disney World resorts. As a result, guests do not have access to Magical Express, receive Magic Bands, or have charging privileges throughout the parks. Guests are eligible for Extra Magic Hours and do have resort transportation. It is important to consider these potential added costs when deciding if the discount is worth it.

These are 3 Disney World discounts I’ve discovered that you might not know about. What are some of your favorite “hidden discounts” to save money on your Disney World trips? Share in the comments.
