One of my favorite things that the Walt Disney World Resort has recently rolled out has been the Mobile Ordering Service. It has been an incredible option that I have taken advantage of on many different occasions. Matter of fact, I was among the first people to try Mobile Ordering when it debuted at Satu’li Canteen. But for those of you who maybe don’t know what it is, let me help shed some light on this helpful tool that you can use as part of your Disney vacation arsenal.
With Disney’s Mobile Ordering System, Guests can order food and beverages at select Walt Disney World quick-service restaurants using their My Disney Experience app on their mobile device. Using Mobile Ordering is a great way to streamline your dining experiences and minimize time spent waiting in line.
So how does it work? Well, Guests can take a look at the restaurant’s menu and choose which items they would like to order. They can even customizing their order, say if they didn’t want onions on their cheeseburger. You then confirm and place your order with a credit card number. Once you arrive at the restaurant, you’ll be able to click the “I’m Here” button and you can then pick up your food, as it’s prepared once that button is selected. Your meal will be served soon and you didn’t have to wait in the sometimes lengthy dining lines to place your order!
Mobile Ordering is currently offered at 23 locations throughout the theme parks and Disney Springs. More restaurants will likely be added as time goes on.
One of the major issues with Mobile Ordering is when it was initially rolled out, Guests could only pay with credit card. Those who had purchased the Disney Dining Plan could not use Mobile Ordering. That is until now. Now the Mobile Order System will accept any of the three Disney Dining Plans as payment too: the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan, the Disney Dining Plan and the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan.
If you have purchased a Disney Dining Plan and linked it to your reservation, it will automatically appear as a payment option during the ordering process on the My Disney Experience app.
For more information about how this process will work, watch this video:
Do keep in mind that Disney gift cards and discounts are not accepted through the Mobile Order System at this time. Cash is also not accepted.
This change of adding the Disney Dining Plan to Mobile Ordering is HUGE! It will make life so much easier for those who are in the know about this system who have purchased the Disney Dining Plan because the lines to order at quick service restaurants and snack locations can get exceedingly long.
Matter of fact, when I was recently at the Magic Kingdom and wanted to order a Dole Whip Pineapple Upside Down Cake, the line to place an order would have, at minimum, taken me 10 minutes. Thanks to Mobile Ordering, I was able to order my treat while waiting in line for the Enchanted Tiki Room. Once the show was over, I hit the “I’m Here” Button and instead of waiting 10+ minutes, I had my treat in seconds.
Are you someone who purchases the Disney Dining Plan who is looking forward to using the Mobile Ordering System now? Share your thoughts in the comments.
