&#8211; A Year In Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Rikki Niblett<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What an entertaining 2012.\u00a0 Disney certainly kept us on our toes with a lot of things that they brought to their domestic parks.\u00a0 In a way, it was one of the most changing years that we\u2019ve had in a while.\u00a0 Big things happened, more than have in recent memory.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a list of some of the most major changes this year:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4616\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4616\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/1009ZY_0260GD.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4616\" title=\"1009ZY_0260GD\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/1009ZY_0260GD.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/1009ZY_0260GD.jpg 500w, id=\"caption-attachment-4616\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9Disney<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>New Fantasyland:\u00a0 They brought in new attractions with Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid and Enchanted Tales With Belle.\u00a0 Plus, add in two great dining establishments with Be Our Guest Restaurant and Gaston\u2019s Tavern.\u00a0 What really does it for me about this new land though, is the theming.\u00a0 Disney hit a homerun here.\u00a0 These two new areas (I include Storybook Circus too because it was part of the expansion) are so richly detailed which is really what wows me.\u00a0 Disney is doing an amazing job with the details which is something that I\u2019d felt had been lacking a bit in recent past.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4617\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4617\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/1129ZY_2048ANrt.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4617\" title=\"1129ZY_2048ANrt\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/1129ZY_2048ANrt.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/1129ZY_2048ANrt.jpg 500w, id=\"caption-attachment-4617\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9Disney<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Test Track: Ok\u2026I\u2019m going to admit.\u00a0 I haven\u2019t seen this yet.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been attempting to avoid spoilers because I want to see it and judge it in person.\u00a0 However, from what I can tell from the brief glimpses I\u2019ve gotten, the Imagineers did a great job updating a relatively tired attraction with state of the art technology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4614\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4614\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/0328ZY_0108MS.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4614\" title=\"0328ZY_0108MS\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/0328ZY_0108MS.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/0328ZY_0108MS.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/0328ZY_0108MS-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4614\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9Disney<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Disney\u2019s Art of Animation Resort: This is another area where Disney did an amazing job with theming.\u00a0 This resort is hands down the best Value resort I\u2019ve visited.\u00a0 It isn\u2019t garish the way the other values are.\u00a0 (Well, not quite as garish anyway).\u00a0 I really enjoy what they\u2019ve done with things like the food court, which serves unique food with real silverware.\u00a0 I also appreciate the fact that they added family suites.\u00a0 That is an area where Disney had been lacking.\u00a0 Overall, this new addition to the Resort has been quite a welcome one.<\/li>\n<li>WiFi:\u00a0 Joining the 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century, Disney World has officially added Free WiFi to the entire property.\u00a0 Now you can access it in the parks, at the resorts, and at Downtown Disney.\u00a0 This is huge because now, people have easier access in different places, plus, this means that hopefully my phone battery won\u2019t drain so fast!\u00a0 I know this is just a step so that Disney can implement NextGen stuff, which I\u2019m not really thrilled with, but this is one change I can get behind.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Starbucks Announced:\u00a0 Ok\u2026people have been clamoring for good coffee at Walt Disney for years.\u00a0 Now we\u2019re getting it.\u00a0 This is a major win to me.\u00a0 I know that many are scared that it is going to ruin the ambience of the Magic Kingdom, but honestly, I view this as a sponsorship (something that has been a staple of the Disney parks since they opened in 1955), and not a take-over of the areas the company will be located.\u00a0 It will still look and feel like a Disney area.\u00a0 Look at what they did with it over at Disney&#8217;s California Adventure!\u00a0 The only real change here is that guests will finally have better coffee choices.<\/li>\n<li>Legend of Jack Sparrow: This new attraction opened at Disney\u2019s Hollywood Studios and it is a welcome addition for the space and the visuals are incredible.\u00a0 Honestly, I think I would have liked it better if the story wasn\u2019t just guests doing a different version of Simon Says, (Pirate Says?), however, this is not ever going to be considered a headliner.\u00a0 It is a great diversion for families to get to partake in.\u00a0 Which trust me, is a necessary thing over at DHS.<\/li>\n<li>Sorcerer\u2019s of the Magic Kingdom: This game, which uses video screen technology has been seemingly popular since it opened early this year.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been a great little diversion for families.\u00a0 Add to it the collectable factor in the cards and it&#8217;s perfect for the collector too!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4615\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4615\" style=\"width: 333px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/0607ZY_3899MS.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4615\" title=\"0607ZY_3899MS\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/0607ZY_3899MS.jpg\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/0607ZY_3899MS.jpg 333w, https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/0607ZY_3899MS-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4615\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9Disney<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Carsland: This addition to Disney&#8217;s California Adventure was a GAME CHANGER!\u00a0\u00a0 The finished product finally caused me to take my first ever trip to Disneyland.\u00a0 This addition added such great theming to a park that was lacking in that department, to many people&#8217;s standards.\u00a0 This area really does take you into the land of Radiator Springs and it is so exciting to get to walk the streets of this richly detailed town.<\/li>\n<li>Buena Vista Street:\u00a0 This new entrance area of Disney&#8217;s California Adventure makes you feel like you are stepping into old Hollywood.\u00a0 You half expect to find Walt actually walking around!\u00a0 The immersion is great, what with the Red Car Trolleys, Carthay Circle Theater, great shops, and more.\u00a0 Things really did get Happier at Disneyland Resort this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4613\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4613\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/0314ZY_0542DZ.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4613\" title=\"0314ZY_0542DZ\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/blog_ms_news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/0314ZY_0542DZ.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" id=\"caption-attachment-4613\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9Disney<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>The Fantasy:\u00a0 This ship got christened early this year and it has been a smashing success ever since.\u00a0 It is the sister ship to The Disney Dream and it is very similar in it&#8217;s amenities. \u00a0New to this ship is the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and the AquaLab water play area.\u00a0 It is simply a lovely ship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So these are just some of the more major events that happened this year at the Disney Parks.\u00a0 Of course, there are some that I&#8217;m
