Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Virtual Queue System Gets Updated Again

Attention Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge visitors! If you’re hoping to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, there’s a brand new system that’s going to be in place that you’re going to want to know about! Beginning November 3, Disney will be piloting a new way that the virtual queue system will work.

For those Guests who have a valid ticket or annual pass and a Disney Park Pass reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, they will be able to use the My Disney Experience app to access the virtual queue system and potentially join a boarding group beginning at 7:00 a.m. on the day of their park reservation. Previously, you would have needed to be in the park to be able to get a boarding pass, but now you will be able to check into the virtual queue system prior to arriving to the park for the day, provided you are nearby. (No word on how far away you can be where you’ll actually be able to make your boarding pass reservation).

Now, if you are not able to join the virtual queue for Rise of the Resistance in the morning, it will reopen daily at 1:00 p.m. If you would like to try to obtain a boarding group at the 1:00 p.m. drop, you will need to be inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios. (This changed recently. More details can be found here.)

The ability to obtain a boarding group will be subject to availability and is not guaranteed.

The good news is that Disney has made changes to the ride vehicle, adding a clear barrier between the two rows of seats on each attraction vehicle to enabling more guests to board the attraction each day. This was done in order to try to maximize the number of boarding groups that can be accommodated all while adhering to current health and safety guidelines.

Tips for Obtaining a Boarding Pass for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Now, if you are looking to obtain a boarding group, there are some helpful tips that could help you to get the opportunity to ride Rise of the Resistance:

  • Have a My Disney Experience account and the My Disney Experience app downloaded on your phone prior to arrival (and make sure that it’s the most updated version)
  • Have a valid Disney Park Pass reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the day you’re visiting
  • Link all park tickets for those members who are in your party to your My Disney Experience account
  • Select one member of your party to access the virtual queue for everyone in your group; if multiple people in your party try to join the virtual queue at the same time, that may complicate your ability to secure a boarding group
